Er, you need to Google better.

LA-EA1 = APS-C, contrast-detect only
LA-EA2 = APS-C, phase-detect with translucent mirror
LA-EA3 = FF, contrast-detect only
LA-EA4 = FF, phase-detect with translucent mirror

Contrast detect is super slow on my A7S - I have the LA-EA1 with the rear baffle removed to make it full-frame, and even in bright daylight, it focuses slowly. Just go for the LA-EA4 if you want to use A-mount lenses.

what about a7ii that using improved AF logarithm from a6000? still slow? unsure.gif

yea, we kawan jahat one... wahahaha

eh, we talking about adapter u jump in without proper introduction we sure thinking u talking about adapter le....

anyway, to answer you... once you reach iso6400 environment, the A7II will fail, the A7s continue to focus lock up to iso 25600 or more without AF assist.

edit: the PDAF works up to around 1600iso (@f2.8, not sure even the PDAF on sensor works like dedicated F2.8 sensor or not, or up to F3.5 standard)... and for contrast detect, which rely how clean the sensor can send the data/contrast to be detected, the FF 24mp work up to 6400 plus minus, but the A7s 12mp work all the way to 51200 (without AF assist).... so, when it gets dark, the A7s still rocks every camera out there...
PDAF is exclusive for Native Sony E mount. even 3rd party(sigma) lens native E also cant use the PDAF. thats the only way to help/keep sony keep selling their lens...

so, not even the older nex6 with PDAF assist works in either adapater nor non-Sony E mount lenses.
albert, if im not wrong, sony never bother to update the algorithm for the EA-CDAF (last was 1.02? or 1.2?).... so basically lastest A6000 or A7II EA1/3 PDAF is as fast as oldest nex3 with same EA1/3 (with the same lens to lens. SAM to SAM, SSM to SSM)....  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

hi guys..wanna ask again about A to E adapter. i wanted to buys LA-E2 adapter for my a6000. got a very good 2nd hand price. but some people recommend me to get the LA-E4 instead because it is new (possibly better electronics), has better PDAF (not sure) and has the Fullframe capabilities. it means it is future proof if someday im going to use sony E mount full frame camera. but i dont think i will jump to a FF camera and so far im fine with the crop sensor..need opinions on 'better Electronic and faster AF'..is the LE-A4 really that superior?

thanks

dont be so sure about not going to FF yet. i was once had the thinking like you to like stay at apsc forever. but now i am itchy to go FF on A7 series. tongue.gif
as for the laea2 vs laea4, the pdaf AF system should be the same derived from the same AF system you can find in A55. the only difference is laea4 supports FF. I would go for laea4 for sure. biggrin.gif

guys, need some insight and opinions from E-mount users, especially A7 series, how does the Laea-4 AF focusing performance compare to A77/A77ii/A99? As far as i know Laea-4 only has A55 AF system built in, so any advance new AF system such as in A6000 or A7ii will be backward to A55 AF performance. How much backward is this Laea-4 adapter? Is it useable even under low light condition? Accuracy? Speed? Thx. smile.gif hmm.gif

thanks the both of you for the feedback. The sudden desire to change is because my company has some decent discounts with sony as well. not so much the grass is greener, as i am very much in love with fuji's viewfinder compared to sony's puny one. but yea each has good pros and cons.

Also i was considering which lenses are meant for the mirrorless A mount, and i was very confused by the naming and the mounts. Can i assume all full frame a mount lenses are for the A7? or are some for mirrorless and some for mirrored? if it is the latter, how do i know? whats in the naming of the lenses?

thanks

NEX series, a5000/6000 series and a7 series all of them uses E-mount while A77 and A99 series use A-mount. Any sony lens model code start with "SEL" is meant for E-mount and "SAL" is meant for A-mount. OF coz, sony has its in house lens adapter LAEA-4 to let A-mount lenses to be use on E-mount bodies with AF system built in. go here -------> http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/, for more info on all varieties of lenses built for Sony Alpha family. smile.gif

For EF mount, you need EF (EOS) to E Mount but manual focus.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/9949...r_canon_ef.html
If you have budget, get the Metabones and you still get Auto focus
http://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB-EF-E-BM4

but behold of the slower AF on those metabones compare to native Emount lenses. Even Sony's own Amount lenses focus faster with our native sony adapters.
