I was using iPhone 6 until today when I tried iPhone 6+. Immediately I notice that speed is a lot faster on the 6 compare to the 6+. Certain apps/animations potentially have a small lag on the 6+.

QUOTE(babyk @ Dec 22 2014, 11:32 PM) check for background running apps. perhaps the 6+ has many apps running at the background Nope, I always close my apps. If you compare a stock 6 and 6+, you will get what I mean. The 6+ is indeed slower by a small notch.

QUOTE(babyk @ Dec 22 2014, 11:43 PM) if you are running high resolution apps, of course the 6+ will lag behind due to the 1080p resolution compared to 6 I notice even in Whatsapp when you switch from individual chat to your chat list, the animation lags a little. The 6 is totally smooth.

Any tweaks or optimization that can help improve speed? If it's already a little sluggish now, I'm sure it's pretty much screwed if we upgrade to iOS 9 in future.

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Dec 23 2014, 04:19 PM) It's the problem with optimisation in itself... iOS 5 was sluggished, but iOS 6 was a relief on the same hardware at that time (barring the marred launch of Apple Maps). Apple is trying hard to achieve the balance between performance (especially battery) and form factor (thinness), and right now iOS 8 is not optimised... At least not yet... But then again whether or not they can optimised it at the end of the iOS 8 cycle is beyond us since SJ is in his grave now... Nobody in Apple give a damn about perfectionism anymore... And Apple is well known for "planned obsolescence" of their hardware, so don't think your iPhone can last more than 3 years with all those upgrades. It's gonna get slower and slower with each upgrades... I think iOS optimization is another issue altogether. I'm running iOS 8.1 on both 6 and 6+ but the 6+ is abit sluggish sometimes, that was my point. Even when I flip the phone from portrait to landscape as I type this post, it's not smooth as the 6 Anyone with a good jailbreak tweak to improve performance please share?

QUOTE(kae7 @ Dec 23 2014, 06:30 PM) Buy Springtomize 3 and reduce the animation speed? I finally jailbreak the phone and installed iCleaner Pro then disabled some launch daemons. Slightly helpful of course

The 6+ is definitely more sluggish than the 6. It's like using the same graphics card powering full HD vs WHQD resolutions. I don't think they can produce the same fps unless it's a very powerful graphics processor which isn't the case on the A8 chip.

QUOTE(v1n0d @ Dec 25 2014, 12:57 PM) Thanks for the detailed response. I think I'll go down to the nearest store and play with both the 6 and 6+ again before I make my decision. Trust me, I've owned and used both 6 and 6+, there's really a difference Although it's minor and not a life/death matter but you can definitely feel it at times. Not to mention I own all sorts of different Apple products from iPad 3, Air, Mini, MacBook and all those iFag stuffs If you want a big screen and good battery life, go for the 6+. I guess that's the only reason.

QUOTE(sonic_sphere @ Dec 25 2014, 09:11 PM) So do u feel the 'sluggish' thing between iPhone 6 and 6 Plus? OMG, now im thinking to get the 6 other than 6 plus... Moving from 6 to 6+, there's indeed a slight sluggish. It's also very easy to test and reproduce the problem. It's not something that's very serious but just that you can't expect it to be as fluid as the 6 what I've done was jailbreak the phone, turn off some unused services (daemons) using iCleaner Pro and it's much better now.

QUOTE(666devil @ Dec 25 2014, 10:46 PM) Seriously guys. Comparing min sluggishness that u might only notice if actively hunting for it, vs 1.8x battery life and full hd real estate? The first can be minimized by closing background apps when not using, while bigger eye friendly full had screen and longer battery cannot be resolved without help of external hardware. If u have not used Samsung b with all its bloat ware b4, u dunno what sluggish really means. I know coz I upgraded from s4. Go figure... I think it's fine because everyone has different priorities and likings. Some people might not mind the sluggishness, some would The thread is about sharing experiences so I think it's alright to discuss what people are concerned about. On the other hand, Samsung vs Apple is another comparison altogether so let's not getting mixed up with 6 and 6+ comparison.

QUOTE(666devil @ Dec 26 2014, 08:44 AM) If taking 6 due to size factor and ease of 1 hand use, then surely acceptable la... But now comparing minimal lag.... Don't getme wrong, u r definitely right. Freedom of speech. Just voicing my humble opinion. Sorry if offended anyone ya QUOTE(Mavik @ Dec 26 2014, 09:52 AM) And I am one of those because I went straight from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6+ and didn't notice anything until reading this thread.... I've been using iPhone since 3GS and historically, all latest iPhones are very fluid and smooth with the latest iOS. There wasn't one generation that has any form of "sluggish" except the 6+ now. One of the key reason why I prefer iPhone is because of it's "smoothness" and responses are spot on, snappy. Of course I would love that the 6+ have these characteristics as well Maybe Apple should have used A8X on the 6 plus instead? That little lag is surely a turn off in my opinion.

QUOTE(Mavik @ Dec 26 2014, 07:01 PM) In all honesty, where does the sluggishness actually occur? I honestly can't feel it or tell at all hahahaha. I play games and use a lot of chats on my iPhone 6+ and haven't once encountered anything that isn't fluid or fast. I'm a petty person I guess

QUOTE(jin_akira @ Dec 28 2014, 05:40 PM) after watching the Erica Griffin comparison video (a forumer mentioned it a few posts back), it's definitely not you. if i experience the kind of stutter and lag i saw on her video, i can go crazy man. Thanks boss but unfortunately that's the iPhone 6+ and until Apple decides to put a better processor, I think it'll stay the same. I jailbreak it, disabled some daemons and it is slightly better now. I never had any lags/stutter on my iPhone 6 though but the bigger screen attracted me more I guess.

How's everyone's battery on the 6+? I finished charging at 12:30AM, left it alone while I sleep, woke up at 8AM @ 99% then now at 2:45PM, left 35% I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

QUOTE(THTgadgets.com @ Jan 31 2015, 12:06 PM) I'm still stuck on iOS 8.1.1 and seeing your comments about the greater battery drain has stopped me from proceeding with the upgrade, to be honest! 8.1 is still the best so far. Those extra upgrades are simply useless. Unfortunately I am stuck with 8.1.2

QUOTE(drunkn7 @ Jan 31 2015, 02:14 PM) Why? Because of battery life? Battery life is one thing but the other thing is, after updating 8.1.x, the phone easily gets hot. I've never encountered such problems before updating.
