Hello all, first timer here.
I'm a long time Android user, looking to switch to an iPhone. I was planning on getting a 6+ from the Apple store, but after reading through some of the threads in this section and I seeing that there are some complaints (especially about the signal quality and some slight lag on the 6+), I'm a little worried. Any 6+ users here who can share their experience with expected problems? I'd like to know if it's worth switching yet, or if I should hold on until a software patch is released. P.S. Would it be worth considering the 5s instead of the 6/6+? The only major issues I see people complaining about for the 5s is battery life and bugs from the latest iteration of iOS. QUOTE(attw @ Dec 23 2014, 08:04 PM) What happens if RM continues to depreciate against USD? Naik harga lah...! Apa lagi...? http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_resumes_ipho...-news-10560.php Haven't you seen Apple Malaysia increases its prices across some of its accessories not too long ago...? Apple USB Power Adaptor went from RM 69 to RM 79 due to RM plunging to 3.20 - 3.30 territory... If RM gets worse, I don't think Apple will wait until the next iPhone refresh to readjust its prices. QUOTE(v1n0d @ Dec 23 2014, 08:42 PM) Hello all, first timer here. the lag may be due to the 1gb RAM and poor software optimization. not sure how laggy though (would appreciate if a user could replicate the lagginess and record it on video for us to see). yeah based on what i've read so far; if you're using a 5S, stick to iOS 7. iOS 8 is still buggy. I'm a long time Android user, looking to switch to an iPhone. I was planning on getting a 6+ from the Apple store, but after reading through some of the threads in this section and I seeing that there are some complaints (especially about the signal quality and some slight lag on the 6+), I'm a little worried. QUOTE(Blank Space @ Dec 23 2014, 11:23 PM) come on bro, it's 2014 already. Android is not on Donut or Eclair. it doesn't lag any more (at least not on my Nexus 7 2012 4.4.4). iOS 8 on the other hand is clearly problematic, even for the iPhone 6/6+. |

QUOTE(v1n0d @ Dec 23 2014, 08:42 PM) Hello all, first timer here. I can see two possible outcome from this - either you'll like iOS or you'll completely hate it and jump back to Android within 6 months (my guess would be the latter)I'm a long time Android user, looking to switch to an iPhone. I was planning on getting a 6+ from the Apple store, but after reading through some of the threads in this section and I seeing that there are some complaints (especially about the signal quality and some slight lag on the 6+), I'm a little worried. Would it be worth considering the 5s instead of the 6/6+? The only major issues I see people complaining about for the 5s is battery life and bugs from the latest iteration of iOS. The Apple of today is very different from the Apple of yesteryear. If Steve Jobs was still at the helm of the company, the 6 Plus and iOS 8 for that matter would never have been released to the public at it's bug-ridden state. Long time Apple users who are so used to fluidity of the OS and how it work seamlessly on the hardware are now complaning of lags and what not - something that isn't normal years ago. Maybe competition has forced their hand a bit but they are evolving and need to be given time to get things right. They will release software updates every now and then, so if you wanna wait till they ultimately fix all the issues with iOS 8 or with the iPhone 6 Plus, then you will never get an iPhone. And that is not entirely a bad thing. Ultimately, you need to get something that works for you, and if you're gonna experiment with iOS, I think the minimum you should go with is an iPhone 6, and not the 5S. If you're new the Apple ecosystem and haven't invested into the apps yet, maybe try the entry level 16GB for a while, then decide if iOS works for you or not. Bear in mind though that the entry level 16GB iPhone 6 is more expensive and has less features than Android's latest and greatest flagships at that price point. QUOTE(Blank Space @ Dec 23 2014, 11:23 PM) What lag? Have you used an Android lately? I have a one year old Galaxy Note 3 running Android 4.4.2 and despite Samsung being famous for it's bloatware and lack of optimization, I've not experienced any lag thus far. In fact, I've not even experienced significant lag in my current Asus Zenfone 5 LTE, which retails at a quarter of the price of the iPhone 6 Plus. |

iPhone iOS 8.2 Update: What We Know Right Now
12/22/2014 By Adam Mills Apple’s iOS 8.1.2 is still the company’s most current version of iOS 8 though it will, at some point, be replaced by a new upgrade. With iOS 8.1.3 rumors swirling and iOS 8.2 update details continuing to emerge, we want to take a look at what we think iPhone (and iPad) users need to know right now about the upcoming iOS 8.2 release. Several months ago, Apple took the stage to announce the iOS 8.0 release date for iPhone and iPad. The company pegged it for mid-September, just ahead of the iPhone 6 release. On September 17th, the company delivered iOS 8.0 and all of its upgrades and enhancements to iPhone and iPad users of all shapes in sizes. iOS 8.0 isn’t a massive update but it’s no slouch either. While it doesn’t bring the same kind of sweeping changes that iOS 7 brought back in 2013, it delivers some new additions including improvements to Messages, Notifications, and more. It also delivered a number of iOS 8 problems to owners of the iPhone and iPad. ....... http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/12/22/io...te-iphone-ipad/ |

QUOTE(EdwinCodec @ Dec 24 2014, 09:55 AM) Received my phone last night and got really mad about it. Looks bad. Like the display is chipped or something. You have 48 hours from the day you receive the unit to make an official complant and get it replaced one to one. That is if it is a Apple My online store set.Manufacturing defect. Should I return the phone as it's a long process... This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Dec 24 2014, 10:29 AM |

I'm still thinking whether i should send it back as I've got no idea how long the process would take and I'm heading back to UK real soon |

They will send the courier service to pick up your phone (give them the complete set) and they will dispatch another new set to you. |
