This is a good thread kasey, I like reading your detailed descriptions of your quotations. I may get back to you in the future for some small TV cabinet work, if you entertain these small things.

In the meantime, I'd love to join a DIY class if you're organising one. I'm interested to take up woodworking as a hobby, but classes are hard to find in the Klang Valley.

HI KASEY
I bought a property(apartment) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
When i visited Kk recently to find contractor for renovation, i was very amused when i visited my place when i see the kitchen area is very small, limited space, because of the toilet is just oppositr the kitchen. I was so stucked thinking of the design. Not practical...
I hereby attached u, the floor plan.

I rented out the apartment to students before and when they all finished studies, i plan to take back the house and let it be as our family home vacation everytime i visited or outstation there.
I am going to do some repairing and renovation.
My apartment is 3 bedroom,3 Bath. INTERMEDIATE.
WET KITCHEN IS WHERE I DO LAUNDY. Cannot cook there Because of the aircon compressor are installed above. Very hot..
AIYOOOOo...
I cannot think of any design. Want to do wall cabinet also cannot...

Any suggestions??

There is few question before i make any suggestion.

1-You planed how many ppl will staying there if you short trip there?

2-What is the main purpose of your kitchen? heavy cooking ? or just normal cook maggi or boil water?

Hi casey, sorry... I have been waiting for ur reply...
No one will be staying the house for now cos i am based here in Damansara. That apartment i bought is just for investment purpose. Been renting out to some students, but when they moved out, aiyo evertything damaged.
That house i just want to take over back, furnihed everything and only will be use if i am outstation in KK.
I oredi asked around tru internet and found the carpentry to do the designs. I was only 2 days in KK dat day. I was very happy when i stumbled into ur post here in lowyat.. sometimes i outstation herr mostly 2-3 days. Sometimes 1 week. So kitchen area i just required to do 1 straight line.
Cooking area have to put in front toilet... Not enuf space. Even the id in KK ALSO suggested like dat. Also suggested combine the kitchen and do low bench on the window area and just buy i small.dining table.
Normally if i outstation in KK, I always eat outside. If whole family on vacation then i will cook. smile.gif

Ok now, for price: i wanted ur advice and what u think about it...

Actually, My feedback only make u more pek cek,

1-RM 300/fr. How about the Top surface furnishing?

2-I don't have the design,I cannot judge on this. If you can attache drawing better.

3-Your study table come with drawer or just a hanging selves?

4.RM 570 x 7ft = RM 3,990.00

RM 480-550/fr also no need worries no ppl take your job.(already included 20-30% profit)

5.RM 400 x 5ft = RM 2000
In KL, RM 330-350/fr god ppl do already.(already included 20-30% profit)

6.Like normal drawer set? 225/fr x 2 ft = RM 450, Market Price RM 150-180/fr in KL.

7.3 Hanging Shelves.
(1 pieces blockboard of RM 90 ,4ft x 8ft, divided to half. 2ft x 8ft, which means can produce , Laminate RM 70 1 pcs 4'x8' , 4 hours of chinese sifu fabricate and install RM 25/hour ,90+70+100 = RM 260. + 30% profit ,RM 78 = RM 338 - RM 450= RM 112 for SERVICES )

Since you already being design and start work. It just for the last payment, slightly nego with them la.

Perhaps you should have something small like this,

I have heard there are different grades of PU spray paint. Do all PU sprayed have to be "cooked" after application? Coz one contractor say he can spray on-site after built-ins installed

Kasey, I saw similar design at Nandos Paradigm and thought of doing the same for my bathroom ceiling. A contractor should be able to do this easily if I show picture right? Any advice on materials?

Yes. Normally they require to cooked. to strengthen their durability.

Can spray onsite depends on the sprayer skills.Perhaps they spray finished, after installed on site. they spray minor touch up.. But I'm not longer doing this finishing. Very Toxic, less and less ppl doing this. The fabrication process very toxic. Earn money also hard to cover medical expenses.

hi Kasey~

Would like to ask whether do you provide wood cutting services on a solid wood counter top and install an undermount sink under it.

Mainly I'm looking for a skilful carpenter who can cut a sink hole on my Ikea butcher block. Understand that it won't be a perfect straight line on the cutting but I'm just hope able to meet someone who is willing to accept such small job.

Something like this

user posted image

The wood top thickness is 3.8cm and the sink hole is about 93cm (W) x 45cm (H)

Each edges has a RM0.10 coin rounded corner to match with the sink.

Im understand that the cutting won't be perfect straight line, i hope that someone who is able to provide this service for such small job, with a charges ofcoz.

Most appreciate~!

2.Kitchen Firdge cabinet 8ft w x 4ft h = RM 1480 (can be 1200)
3. Bar counter with quartz 5ft w x 4ft h = RM2140
4. Wardrobe with mirror sliding door antijump 8ft w x 10ft h = RM 3600 (quite reasonable)
5. Bedroom wall unit with mirror 3.5ft w x 4ft h = RM 770. (can be RM 550)
