well it's true. Most Chinese cannot pull off such hairstyle not really because of face but rather the hair itself. East Asians have thick hair and is usually straight. It won't look good plus you lack the natural wave.

Malays probably half of them can, half of them cannot. Malays really are like a mix of Indians and Chinese. Some of them can, some of them cannot.

Indians generally can do it easily because they are caucasians, and thus they have the same hair like the angmo. Thin, soft and wavy. Less hair density too. That's why look neat.

It's not really about the face only, but rather the hair texture itself. You how handsome also if you don't have that kind of hair, sampai bila pun cannot.
