QUOTE(lot101 @ Nov 11 2006, 03:45 PM) Take a bus down to Singapore lo.......big LYN gathering lo with banner and everything. Should be fun....on the way back probably detained under ISA.......even more fun. Our names all on the Amnesty International watch list.....famous LYN coup. Think LYN forum owner going to bail us out? this will be fun, but why would we be detained, we can go to Sg and watch watever movie we want there, and i don't think M'sian govt can do anything abt that. |

QUOTE(choyster @ Jan 5 2007, 08:49 PM) 2007 will see the comeback of several high budget movies and sequels (of course). in stead of those, i am most excited about 300 (no Halo isn't coming), the movie adaptation of Frank miller comic "300" which itself was inspired by the 1952 movie "300 men". the music in the trailer is from Nine Inch Nails albeit modified a bit, i didn't realise this until my friend pointed it out, but weird that it was not mentioned in the credits of the trailer,IIRC i saw Tyler Bates or somebody like that in the 'Music by' credit.the story is about the 300 warriors of sparta who face off in the desperate battle of thermepillai against 1 million of the great persian army. the look and the feel of this movie is awesome. they have blended cgi with live action to create some amazing backdrops. the music is eclectic and exciting. i just hope they keep the kind of music in the trailer in the movie, instead of normal orchestra which has been done to death. looks like this is gonna be a movie with style and loads of attitude. watch the trailer and form your own opinion. as far as i am concerned, screw spidey, 300 FTW! p/s: am reading the comic now..this is gonna be awesome..woot This post has been edited by mastervj: Jan 15 2007, 08:34 AM |

QUOTE(choyster @ Jan 21 2007, 03:59 PM) it's based on a real event in history termed the Battle of Thermopylae between Spartans and Persians but events and characters in this story has been modified and exaggerated by Frank Miller to make it more entertaining (if I may say so), heh and the monster you were referring to plays an important role to the outcome of the battle at the end. |

QUOTE(cajun2de @ Mar 5 2007, 12:11 AM) it's a song composed by Tyler Bates i guess...should be in the soundtrack album if you're referring to the music played in the trailer, at first i tot it was Tyler Bates original composition too, but then a fren of mine says it is from one of the songs by Nine Inch Nails (albeit the music has been modified a bit)...u might wanna check out the soundtrack to see if it's in there.i remember i heard it somewhere before but i couldnt remember who sang it.. anyone has any idea?? edit: and Yeah..i might go with my frenz to catch it in IMAX, but IMAX screenings start on the 9th i believe. the music in the trailer is "Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails, you won't find it on the album soundtrack

juz came back frm watchin the 9.30 show at time square, i wud have to say this movie is definitely a recommended watch. The plot we all know (or think that we know) abt history gets exaggerated and visualized stylishly for the big screen (an adaptation of an awesome graphic novel of course).
The cinematography was really good with all that water-color style effects for the background and it was a really courage inspiring movie I will say. Certain dialogues seemed cliche but the acting I though was good and it did come out as being cool. |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Mar 10 2007, 12:42 PM) You guys didn't find the constant slow-mo fights all a tad similar and repetitive? 300 had more slow-mo than all 3 of The Matrix films combined. In fact if it were in real-time I bet the runtime would be only 1 hour. i believe Zack Snyder was doing the slow-mo to replicate the frames from the pages of the comic book that depict the battle scenes, it was interesting and I didn't find it too repetitive |
