Aiya.. the scene is necessary, so was the licking, it was meant to show that the ephos were a corrupted lot that desired sex and money... and also meant to disgust leonidis.. imagine if the oracle was an old wise lady like in the matrix talking to leonidis and convincing him not to fight, then we got no movie to see liao.

I'm not sure im following you here. Whats wrong with the oracle in The Matrix? Why would a old woman in the place of a young half naked girl make it "...then we got no movie to see liao" ? The films where you expect to see young naked girls are called porn.

Never said that the scene was unnecessary tho. I said it was disturbing. The same way Leonidas found it disturbing.

Im just surprised at the approval of a lot of the posters here, and how some make it out to be the highlight of the show.

Maybe i shouldnt be surprised. Pre-adolescent with raging hormones and all that.

You dont get what he means. Wat he wants to say is:

If the oracle in 300 had been the one from The Matrix, she would have actually looked wise and knowledgeable (which is not what the film wants to portray her as), and Leonidas might have believed in her after all and not go into battle.

They chose a young, hot, naked girl surrounded by dirty priests to portray a society overly reliant upon those so-called 'priests'. They were shown to be corrupt, sex-crazy fiends. Leonidas knew they were full of shit and this was why he insisted on going into battle.

It's a movie!! Based on a GRAPHIC NOVEL (A sad excuse for a comic)!! A war that took place before Jesus was born!! A war between 300 awesomely sculpted abs Spartans and millions of Persians freaks (even George Bush is not that stupid)!! A war that could've been imaginary for all I know!!

So, please, for the love of God, can you guys let it go and just enjoy the movie?

if you look properly, the blood is actually animated. its pretty obvious in some scenes. they do it like that so it will look just like the comic.

A little too predictable and straight forward I would say.

The narration part was a bit overkill and made it sound fictional rather than history, because in the movie Leonidas was potrayed like a superman whom couldn't possibly die.

No doubt though that his army stood well and slaughtered the Persians massively that it angered Xerxes badly that Leonidas got decapitated and crucified (something the Iranian Xerxes culture seldom practice - scriptures describe Persians as men who honour warriors who fought bravely).

Troy was a little more realistic than this movie, even though the battle of troy may be fictional.

watched discovery channel documentary about the battle of the hot gates long time ago.If im not wrong apparently xerxes really pissed off because one of his relatives is in the immortal squad and got pwned by leonidas and after he killed the king they simply backed off greece right? cant remember that part in the documentary.

HAHAHAHAH

A lot of my female friends got turned on by the movie. Abs and all.

The movie is simple and straightforward. I personally prefered movies like Letters from Iwo or Flag of Our Fathers.
