QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Jul 3 2015, 06:44 AM) If it cranks hard, turn off the engine and take out the key fob. Then reinsert back, press start button once, press once again, hold brake, press and hold the start button. QUOTE(winners8 @ Jul 3 2015, 07:04 AM) The engine will still fire eventually, except that the cranking takes much longer (2 seconds or more) than usual to be "cut-off". I believe the engine has already started, just that the power to the starter motor is still not "cut-off". This problem was commonly highlighted on the pioneer (2012) batch of the PREVEs. I thought PROTON should have resolved it by now. Otherwise, in the long run, I'm afraid it'll damage the starter motor prematurely. I've applied the normal method to start: insert fob, press START/STOP once to activate ACC, press START/STOP another time to activate ignition and listens for the fuel pump activation to complete, step on footbrake and see green light on START/STOP button, finally press START/STOP again to crank the engine. The next time, I'll press and hold the START/STOP button during cranking and see the outcome. You guys need to press the START/STOP button of the car 3 times to start the car? I thought it is only 2 times? Sometimes when I"m in a rush I only pressed the button only once and the car will start.

Sometimes when I"m in a rush I only pressed the button only once and the car will start. Actually, stepping on the brake and pressing the START/STOP button once will also start the engine. Whether it's a good practice or not, I don't know. But I practice the method like using the conventional key: insert key, turn to ACC, turn to Ignition, wait for fuel pump to stop, turn and start cranking. Sometimes, even the ABS pump will also be activated upon stepping on the brake pedal and I would then wait for it to stop before cranking. This post has been edited by winners8: Jul 3 2015, 08:21 AM

I would advise that you send your car to the service centre for checking since your car is only 2 months old and there is a slight delay in starting the car. My car is almost 3 years old now little issues with starting the car. Started the car by pressing the button 2 times 90% of the time, pressing the button 1 time 10% of the time.

By the way, talking about battery life, my car will be 3 years old by next month, and I am still on the original battery. How long does the stock battery in the Preve Turbo usually last?

How long does the stock battery in the Preve Turbo usually last? Usually a battery should lasts between 3 and 4 years, depending on how you use. Those drivers that don't manually turn off the air-con before each starting will shorten the battery's life span, just like my sister's car. Also, I won't recommend the AMARON brand as I had installed it before on my SAGA and don't find it any better, despite paying 30% more. Also, it's Made In India.

QUOTE(cslai89 @ Jun 30 2015, 09:27 PM) Can Preve use those led bulb for headlight? Interested changing to it After my own thorough research, no. 1. Aftermarket H7 LED bulbs are designed for headlamps with no obstruction at the back. Preve's headlamp has rubber boot to seal off moisture and dust. The way through it is to cut the rubber boot, ugly silicon sealing if required. 2. Most LED bulbs has large heatsink at the back. Our spring loaded retention clamp can't loop over it to secure the bulb. The way through is to break the clamp or modify it somehow. All are too intrusive.

Talking about engine oil, for the first 1k km service, what type (Syn800 or Syn1000) and grade (5W-30 or 10W-40) of engine oil is recommended? I would like to go for the 10k km / 6 monthly servicing interval.
I've read in this forum about some PREVE owners here encountering poorer performance after using Syn1000. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any advice would be appreciated. A few old timers mechanics I met recommended 'light' oil to be used when the car is new, so xW-40 or lower is recommended. I used Syntium 5000 and now Syntium 7000 (5000 is no longer available here) for the 'best' performance. Drove my friend's CFE with Syntium 1000, I can say there's a noticeable difference between the two.

Engine oil doesn't bother me as we are casual drivers n doesn't push our cars hard Our car till today has no such problems as discussed here n only issue was slight creaking noise at back. This was rectified in early days of usage.
