Hi guys. Quick question. My Preve is at 101XX KM atm. 2nd service after 1K KM is when ya? 10K or 11K? 11K also can right?
*
My 2 cents here ..

Suggest to stick to the schedule in the booklet so as not invalidate the car warranty. I think even 1000 km over the stated km will get one into trouble. My plan is to get it done at about 1000 km BEFORE the stated km in the booklet.

Cheerio.

SOS please for my Preve!

For the past few weeks, getting bird droppings on my Preve even though it is parked under the house roof. Can understand if it is under a tree outside for the bird droppings.

How can I stop or minimise the bird droppings landing on my car?

How come more birds coming to my house? Heard that a bird nest business in a shop lot near my house has closed down. So ...

Thanks.

Buy a car cover, less than RM30 at Tesco.

Thanks. Good idea. But I hate the task in putting it on and removing it when I want to drive the car. Put it on during day or night or both?

Like they say, no pain no gain --.> no effort, no gain! Ha.

Those birds that frequent your house are not the bird-nest making species. The birds that produce nests for human consumption are usually found in Borneo, and they usually make those nests in the caves, not at homes.

I see. Thanks for the infor.

Just out of curiosity, am I right in saying that the differences between Preve and Preve Premium are just the extra features (e.g.,turbo)?

All the rest are of the same quality (car body, paint, etc)?

Asking as I don't have much problem with my Preve Premium beside the ESC problem. Thus wondering whether Preve Premium overall build quality is better than Preve.

Cheerio.

Done my 2nd service with Synthium 1000. Only 6000+ km.

Good to have the responsive, powerful acceleration back when pressing on the pedal. I guess with used EO, the car will not be that responsive.

Wanted to try the next grade after Synthium 1000 but this SC only has Mach, Synthium 800 & 1000.

Got a free car wash this time. But it is just a simple car wash as the bird droppings are still there!

Yesterday when I went to pick up my son from school, one local council's grass cutter was cutting grass along the road, one stone got in the way of his spinning ribbon and the stone hit my car. Quite a loud bang.

AA
Who will be responsible for incident like this? The local council?

BB
How to minimise incident like this? Cannot really avoid places where grass cutters are as once you are there and see them, a bit too late. What can the grass cutters do to minimise this? They wear covers to protect themselves from flying stones.

Thanks.

what a question sweat.gif

AA
no one is responsible for this incident, if the damage is not major, just live with it.

BB
just pray that when you pass by the grass cutter the stone wont hit you.
*
I thought now everyone is liable for their actions, should exercise due care. Especially so in the USA where one can be sued for just about anything.

Will give the local council a call on this.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Must be impressed with Preve's handling, right?

Need some time to get used to the signal light on the left hand side, the high back getting in the way of the mirror, etc.

Enjoy the ride. Drive safely!

Wah, Preve as your 1st car! Only got Preve as my 5th car.

Since this is your first car, I assume you are a new driver. Be extra careful when reversing, cannot see the back properly.

Also, be gentle on the gas pedal, especially if you have the turbo version.

*SA give offer me to install reverse camera/headrest monitor. Will it void the warranty?
thanks.
*
I have checked with Proton WeCare.

Yes, installing anything that is not part of the original design will void the warranty. Does not matter who installs it, even if it is installed by Proton SC or with Proton products.

Initially, I thought if is a Proton product and installed by Proton SC, then it should be OK. But no!

So, wait for 1 or 3 years till the warranty has expired.

Cheerio.

yea.. see how you discuss with sc.. i had installed reverse camera, and they knew it.. ask me how much i done.. i told them.. they understand it then no problem for warranty claim cause i just extra plug in a socket into HU.. they understand we hardly to observe rear view when reversing. actually im quite satisfy with proton sc in autocity, at least the supervisor and manager try to do their best.. just a lot of proton car doing service.. so might need to wait only.. im ok to wait.. so far my preve 2014 July didnt give me major problem..
*
I see.

My worry is this. Even if the current SC turns a blind eye to the reverse camera system, later when one needs to claim for warranty (heaven forbids), he may stick to the book or a new staff is there who also follows the rule. Then susah lah.

Yes, one can remove eqpt added to the car before sending it for warranty.

One will have to the weigh the pros and cons before deciding on this.

I am the no-guts one and prefer to follow the rules. Ha.

Installing the reverse camera the correct way shall not affect the warranty (even it does, it just small portion of the engine wire hardness).

Wire hardness warranty usually void if u temper the wiring.

There are two proper ways to install reverse camera, the first one is to purchase a reverse camera with plug n play socket and input into the rear portion of the stock HU. The 2nd option is to "tap" the reverse camera wire on the stock HU wiring cable (need installer with proper skill to do that).

The wrong method would be? Cut the wire and connect the reverse camera to it, lousy installer I must say.

With socket method, I'm pretty sure warranty will intact.
If you are worried, remove the reverse camera if you intend to claim warranty for wire hardness. It will not void your any other parts warranty.

Thanks for your useful "inside" view from your Proton work experience.

Yes the firewall need to remove the dashboard.

Took whole day to do the firewall and fenders.

But it's worth it.

Next move is to change to a quieter tire and it's good to go.

I would say a 3 grand is good for the sound proof (including tires) cos there's a significant difference in the refinement, solidness and overall quietness of the cabin and ride compared to stock.
*
Sorry for my stupid question here.

With the sound proofing, will that also reduce the sound from outside the car, e.g. siren, car horning, etc?

Thanks.

Like to know who has filled more than 50 litres in our Preve tank. My highest volume is 48 litres.

Why am I asking this?

Want to know if 50 litres is really the absolute maximum or is there some more room there.

Thanks.

When I get the car for first time, the fuel indicator is blinking and show I only have 30km or so for travel distance. I fill up full tank and reach 51.xxx liter.
*
I see. Thanks.

Will try to beat the 50 litres barrier later!

personally, i never tried more than that.. even what i feel like filling to the brim, the 1st bar of petrol indicator will only go off after more than 150km.. (i drive like uncle)
*
As stated in the manual, once the petrol symbol starts to blink, you will have only 8 litres left in the tank. This will be equal to about 80-100 km mileage left before the tank is totally empty.

Each petrol indicator is about 45-50 km distance for me.

Really? You must be pulling my legs. Preve?

I had 1 filling where I put in too much and the petrol came out. Amount then was still below 50 litres.

I can expect a few litres more than 50 litres but 20 more litres?

Seriously poor Proton over design if true.
