I have experience with haunted house. Actually my parent house. For years at night will have sound of hammering the wall. Small things running on ceilings, scratching etc.

I assume it is normal. single storey. So i assume my crazy neighbour (we dont have good terms) have stupid habit hammering wall at night (sometimes around 7pm, then suddenly 11am, 2am, 3am, 5am...randomly) or maybe because the house is old - the pipe is knocking inside walls.

For the sound in the ceiling - I assume maybe mouse or cats running around and scratching the ceiling playing their stuff.

Been living like this for YEARS. Then one day, my mother went to this nenek for traditional remedy. Since she's been coughing like hell and did not cure even though checking at clinics and hospitals all seems normal.

Then the nenek says, my house actually got something not good. Sent by jealous neighbours (this we acknowledge because not in good term with next door for a long time actually). So she make some beras+kunyit+lada hitam and ask us to throw around the house to scare the thing.

Amazingly, after years of sleepless night - THAT night was the first night everything was silent. No knocking, no running on ceiling, no scratching sound. The nenek told us that people just want us to get out of the house. Thats why they make living there uncomfortable.

2 days later - the thing got upset and tries to break through the wall. It jumps on our ceiling. Sound like adult jumping all over our roof. Impossible to be sound of cats jumping. After reading some ayat quran, we manage to get the thing off.

The effort continues and after few years, the disturbance has been lesser and lesser.
