take 1 Venice 3000+, Put it in a DFi nF4 Ultra
-change the CPU frequency to 250MHZ
-CPU multiplier is still 9X
-Ht Multiplier changed to 3X for stability

now, according to that, I should get a 2250MHz CPU, but when I check with CPU-z, this is the result

I've updated the bios, changed the timing for the ram, disable Quiet and Cool, still nothing....

can anybody help me with this?

Kingston, and I've already used the 6:5 ratio on the ram using DFi's overclocking guide so that if it maxxed out on 200MHz, i still can use it. It's the same RAM that I used to get 2.5GHZ on my fren's AMD 3200+

Looks like nothing has changed, everything seems to be stock. Make sure you have saved your overclocked setting.

Also check the CMOS battery whether it's working properly or not.

I need to screenshot my bios, because the last time I checked, the bios is reporting 2250Mhz, the true overclocked speed. Time to change the mobo I presume T.T cry.gif

@kucingfight - the same, it still says 1.8GHZ, the funny thing is I'm wondering where the hell that 1Mhz in the 201MHz is coming from....

@e-jump - been there, done that.

@vey99 - This is a clean install of windows. And only the basic is installed. Meaning just the drivers and a few software

my current DFI Infinity UltraII-M2 tend to +1MHz as well.... at certain "fsb" speed la. It never happened to my previous Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb, nor my Infinity nF2 Ultra though.

It's there even at the default speed. That's why I think it's teh mobo's problem.. not to mention my Proc seems to be underheating (eg: 25~35C instead of 40ish)

To me, personally .... I don't feel that as mobo problem, I mean referring to the extra 1MHz.

weird nuts, haven encountered this problem before. what does the comp properties detect ur comp speed as? try double checking the CnQ setting

nah, the +/- 1mhz is juz variations from each mobo manufacturers by having a little edge in performance.

Does ur mobo has a feature such as Dynamic Overclocking?

Dynamic Overclocking Technology is the automatic oc function. It is designed to detect the load balance of CPU while running programs, and to adjust the best CPU frequency automatically. When the mobo detects CPU is running programs, it will speed up CPU automatically to make the program run smoothly and faster. When the CPU is temporarily suspending or staying in the low load balance, it will restore the default setting instead.

If this the case for u..just disable such feature in BIOS. If it is enabled, it will be powered only when user's PC need to run huge amount of data like 3D games or the video process.

If ur DFI board really has this feature...this is the most relavant explanation for ur problem.

thread starter, have you disable "cool n quiet"?
i'm using that mobo also .. if i'm not mistaken .. with cNq enable.. no matter whut fsb u put .. it will revert back to it's original speeed.. try to disable that function and see how stuff goes...

happy clockin.

edit - if prob still persist.. clear the cmos and reconfig all your setting again and remember to disable cool and quiet under genie bios.

i've updated the Bios 3 times, actually, and always nothing happen. At least the latest BIOS shows some change in the speed during the POST. the first (default) BIOS wouldn't let me OC at all without having to clear the CMOS

ok - it looks like the system didn't like your setting and ran your system back at default. i've encountered this myself.

now - could you at least try a gradual boost, like going 5mhz increment first?

heck even try 225mhz if you want to. smile.gif
