Some private hospital is like that. Besides sucking $, they take all precautionary steps to prevent problems. So, if we cater for private medical specialist, make sure you seek 2nd opinion, or make your own decision properly before letting them do anything. As they asked your permission before proceed with it. That is the reason they always put upfront a document for you to sign concern.
During my time delivering my baby, from the moment I step inside the hospital, they already try to suck my $ all the way from room allocation to final bill. I insisted on 4-bedded room, they put my bags into the twin room. After I came out from emergency c-sect, still force them to move me to 4-bedded room and they still try to offer me those twin room and told me the room is ready for me to upgrade anytime (what? am not in the hospital for holiday).
Due to emergency c-sect, and my boy was born G6PD deficiency that is prone to jaundice. But no jaundice at that time. The paed try to suck $ out of me telling us that need to put bb under the UV light for prevention. Due to G6PD, we agreed although he have no jaundice yet. Then another day, telling us that he need to put my son under monitoring for the next 2days (anytime can put under UV if needed). So not encourage to discharge. Later, I asked my gynae to take a look at my baby whether this is call "yellow"? Gynae say "no yellow". So I told my gynae on what the paed told us. Gynae said by looking at the baby at this moment, no need UV.. actually go home sidai sunlight should be ok. He told us to decide ourselves (behaving like he dares not break the rice bowl of the paed). But my gynae added a sentence before he left "If your bb stay back another 2-3days, y not u also stay back.. be with the bb". Immediately cross my mind, baby bring $ for paed, mommy bring $ for gynae.. obviously.
Anyway, we decided to let bb stay back few days for monitoring and ready to pay for "nothing", just incase. Some patient there advise us to discharge the baby and enrol into GH for checking if that is necessary for monitoring, coz it does sound like the hospital wanted to suck $ only. Anyway, we pay the bill for having my bb stay in the hospital total of 5 nights .. only gone through half day UV from end to end.
Hello, getting jaundice are normal, is not big deal. Just need to monitor and take needed action if it goes severe. Some babies are getting > 3++.
That's why breast feed are important.
Just give baby a morning sunshine(cover the eyes) will more or less solve the problem.
G6PD also not a big issue as this is genetic problem, as a new born child. Only need to avoid certain food and substance.
