QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 15 2014, 10:45 AM) Already a trend for the last couple of weeks. EPF has 500mil BUMi shares.......... A couple of millions is nothing for a penny stock. The stock has > 5 billion shares. Volume has died down a bit signalling a more stablise movement for in stock price. Calculate the paper losses............their cost will be around Rm3.2 |

Lets take clearing fees as example. New fees include GST is (0.03 + 0.03*0.06) % = 0.0318% You buy share worth RM100,000 in one transaction, paid clearing fees RM30 currently. With GST, you need to pay RM31.80. Small diff only |

If you recall the 1997 crisis, it started with the speculative attack on the MYR. This time it is also the depreciation of the MYR. If oil price keeps falling, we will run into a twin deficit as early as the first qtr 2015. It means that the MYR will depreciate further. This time it is not expected to have a v-shape recovery as the is no more QE. Interest rates are expected to rise in order to cap the MYR from dropping. This is of course bad for the market. This downtrend started in July, so, its been falling for 5 month. soon will rebound ? |

This time it is not expected to have a v-shape recovery as the is no more QE. Interest rates are expected to rise in order to cap the MYR from dropping. This is of course bad for the market. The difference between now and 97Malaysia doesn't start with massive trade and current account deficit, whereby prior 97 unfold, Malaysia has twin deficit and low foreign currency reserves. Now with USD120 billion foreign currency reserves (97 less than USD30 bil), and still not yet twin deficit situation provide plenty of cushion. Also lesser foreign denominated currency bond/loan as compared. At the moment, there is no need to increase the interest rate to stem the RM dropping, as most currencies around are dropping against USD across, not solely RM. Whilst in 97, the currency plunge was on solely a few crisis hit countries (high current account deficit + high foreign debt + low foreign currency reserves to fund them). So it is not "attack" solely on RM, whilst 97 was. In fact, China did cut interest rate, while Thailand was rumour to be as well, as well as there may be a cut from RBA as well in near future. So situation is a lot different with 97. |

What if crude oil drops to between UD20 to USD40? Most of the analyst & politicians are thinking there is no such possibility.

From TheEdge today, "Asian central banks have ramped up their intervention in currency markets to stem the sell-off roiling emerging markets, testing the notion that the region is better placed to handle a market rout than during the 1997/1998 Asian crisis.." Russia spend USD90 billion of exchange reserves but the rouble keeps falling.

That would be pretty dirty low as compare with US$100 our recent normal price, and still another 50% discount to current price. Oil stocks can go lower for another 50% from current price, which means 80% discount or so at their peak price just few months ago. QUOTE(TheAccountant @ Dec 17 2014, 05:27 PM) If you are talking about shale oil. Very, very few shale oil companies can actually do that. Only some shale oil companies (as well as oil companies) needs US$80, some don't. Most reports say that for Shale to survive in general, you need USD80 at least. And that's pushing it. Yes, it's possible to produce oil at that level. But then, for many oil producing countries, it will hurt their budget severely. So this low price environment triggers large scale industry consolidation on both companies and countries. This post has been edited by yok70: Dec 17 2014, 05:32 PM |

KLCI closed up 7.96 points to 1,681.90. Turnover was 1.943 billion shares valued at RM2.06bil. There were 648 gainers, 257 decliners and 228 counters unchanged.
Reuters reported an uneasy hush settled over Asian markets on Wednesday as a brewing financial crisis in Russia and the rout in oil prices sent investors scurrying for the cover of top-rated bonds. It said that yields on British, German and Japan sovereign debt had all hit record lows while long-dated US and Australian yields reached their lowest since 2012. |

Once the profit margin is not encouraging, it will dent future capital investment towards it, eventually resulting in future supply is contained at existing level. While in future if there is increase in demand, the supply may not able to catch up, as you need years ahead for capital investment to increase supply, hence price could soar at that point. Once profit margin is not good, it is a supply destruction factor. This was what had happened when oil price was below USD20 time during 1998~1999. When worldwide economy did recover back then, supply has hard time to meet the demand, hence building a strong bull run afterwards for the rest few years time. |

True. For an investor, we actually wish oil price can stay at low side for longer time. This will boost profits for many companies except oil related companies. And then, after good consolidation, buy into oil company and wait for the strong recovery to come. While in future if there is increase in demand, the supply may not able to catch up, as you need years ahead for capital investment to increase supply, hence price could soar at that point. Once profit margin is not good, it is a supply destruction factor. This was what had happened when oil price was below USD20 time during 1998~1999. QUOTE(avatar123 @ Dec 18 2014, 10:21 AM) That day Affin big drop I bought some, ppl tell me, why u go and buy??? It will drop more you know? Risk/reward has become favourable. Oil downside probably another max 5-10%? Problem is more a country specific mainly on oil exporting countries and if they can balance their budget or risk credit downgrade. Overall low oil environment is good as it will ease off inflation pressures and consumer can spend more on other discretionary items (in theory as we all know our local mamak would not lower prices). Fed gave official guidance of kicking the interest rate hike timeline can down to the road to 2016. While ECB is being pressured to go ahead with their own version of QE to bring back up inflation numbers.Today market up abit, ppl still telling me, this is fake rebound, later it will drop kao kao. Cannot understand them. You take the risk you pay/reward for it. Am not sure about ppl telling you but I am sure felt that the sunlight is brighter this morning. anyhow, just do some scalping la. |

QUOTE(bhamophet @ Dec 19 2014, 10:25 AM) not worth the risk reward to buy structure warrants.Let me explain this, On the risk: suppose you hold this FBMKLCI -CH till end july 2015 and FBMKLCI still below 1900, you lose EVERYTHING. On the reward: If the market reach above 1900, then you would have earn little cause you would have paid heavily on adjusted premium and time decay (weekends) by then. so, risk/reward = lose everything/earn little. This is a full prove way of bank making money from retailers, stay away from it unless you are very pro. |

I wanted to tembak Put Warrants a month back..but could not find them for individual stocks....... haha so far current bursa rules don't allow for short-selling
cant issue single stock put warrants if can't short-sell even if can issue, the premium is even higher for put warrants |

QUOTE(ahwai @ Dec 19 2014, 11:15 AM) No chance.. when banks issue the call warrants you are already paying heavy premium. then on of that bank control the buying/selling price. anytime can hentam down the warrant price. There is still chance if you know how to play it.Basically, the point of entry should be precisely at the end of retracement within an uptrend, I let you figure that out, but you are right that majority lose money. |

It is good once upon a time to share some inner feeling or inside stories ...
It is valuable so u do not make the same mistakes again and again.. But later u ask the same Q again and again...no one might answer u The price u need to pay lah......through your own mistakes.... This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Dec 19 2014, 12:31 PM |

The FBM KLCI has extend its gains for the third day today as bargain hunting has emerged after the earlier sharp drop on share prices.
However, the benchmark index has ended the week slightly lower at 1,715.99 points, down 17 points or 0.98% from last Friday’s closing of 1,732.99 points. At market close, the index was 16.04 points or 0.94% higher against Thursday's closing. Across the board, a total of 1.87 billion shares worth RM2.21 billion were traded. Government-linked funds snap up blue-chip stocks. The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has bought stocks across various sectors, Bursa Malaysia filings showed.
On Tuesday, the fund bought 551,900 shares in AMMB Holdings Bhd, 100,000 in Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK), 1.29 million in IHH Healthcare Bhd, 1.25 million in Tenaga Nasional Bhd, 400,000 in Petronas Gas Bhd and 1.42 million in Telekom Malaysia Bhd. Besides the index-linked counters, the pension fund also acquired other stocks like IJM Corp Bhd, Alliance Financial Group Bhd, Gamuda Bhd, Pos Malaysia Bhd and Sunway Bhd. Interestingly, the fund also bought into a number of real estate investment trusts (Reits) like Axis REIT, Sunway REIT and Capitamalls Malaysia Trust (CMMT). |

I concluded my view points on the one who can sapu the money from stock market. Retail investors should have the competencies on,
1) Buy low. Prevent being trapped in your first buy. 2) Sell. Investment is not completed until you sell your share for profit. Share is designed to go up naturally, not go down. 3) Safeguard investment. Your money starts to be disappeared when you 'buy'... feed your remiser, security firm, government....many other reasons. Invest your 'time' to safeguard your money and wisely play on 'timing'. Retail investors have lack of resources (money compared to EPF and fund managers) and team (human resources to do a large amount of analysis, watch the market and network). Hard to influence the market with 'supply and demand'. Our secret weapon is 'time'. Compared to corcordiles, retail investor has advantages of time compared to the pressure of corcordiles to deliver. |

Ask simple question, if u aim for 5% profit within T+3, who will buy your shares within 3 days to give you profit? If a company profit is ever increasing ,,then no need to buy at low price.....and FA should be used for the identification of earning vs price u pay for.. Low price u buy but Co could be heading towards a loss making year maybe like some O & G.stocks ..therefore not cheap at all.. On the other hand ..higher price u pay for ...cos u think the co profit could be double ..or 50% more in future..therefore making it relatively cheap in the future.. It comes down to your own judgments......i.e the ability to judge .. This post has been edited by SKY 1809: Dec 20 2014, 10:48 PM |

Not all shares are suitable for all investors. " Financial analysis should be able to discover the cyclic low price" " 1) Buy low. Prevent being trapped in your first buy." An undervalued stock does not mean it is LOW Price.....it is the " Worth" of the money u pay for..... A Simple example is u pay rm one for the share..then your analysis shows the stock is worth rm 5..per share ...so in simple term it is undervalued.. An undervalued stock does not mean it is LOW Price.....it is the " Worth" of the money u pay for..... A Simple example is u pay rm one for the share..then your analysis shows the stock is worth rm 5..per share ...so in simple term it is undervalued.. Cost of a product manufactured in bulk at RM 1.00. Retail customer buy at RM 1.20. Supplier A buy at RM 0.90 and supplier B buy at RM 0.80. Both A and B buy undervalued product. A expects profit RM 0.30 and B expects profit RM 0.40. B buy low. Manufacturer sell to transfer the responsibilities to buyer and to complete the investment. B can sell to A and retail customer to get profit. A can sell to retail customer and compete with B. C, D, E, F coming in ....... Manufacturer may cheat. Cost is RM 0.70. Manufacturer has pressure to hold product and must create a buy good environment. Buyer decides 'timing' to buy or not to buy based on scientific judgment (fact, figures, experiences, news, comparison etc). |

I was anticipating a crash and sitting 50% cash+bonds, 40% local equity, 10% HK/China equity. Too bad rebound happened Looks like I will wait for the bust. Not believing this "recovery" |

Hi Sky Gor, may i ask for your expert opinion? Why when the market rebounds, certain property counters like Tambun INdah can rebound faster (and sharper) compared to SymLife? SymLife price seems to be quite slow when rebounding....any comments?

QUOTE(KVReninem @ Dec 22 2014, 11:07 PM) shale oil producers have become the new 'swing producers' in the global oil market as production can be turned on & off more easily than conventional oil producers. OPEC call on them to cut production but OPEC themselves do not want to do it. In the future, the ceiling price of oil should be around USD50 to USD60. |

KLCI closed up five points or 0.29% to 1,749.05. Turnover was 1.511 billion shares valued at RM1.665bil. There were 281 gainers, 541 decliners and 247 counters unchanged.
Reuters reported a holiday hush settled over Asian markets on Tuesday after Wall Street closed at historic highs while oil prices recouped just a little of the losses suffered when Saudi Arabia quashed all thought of curbing supply. Equity investors chose to focus on the benefits that falling fuel prices would have for consumer spending power, it said. |

But some oil stocks like Petdag, Petgas still rather expensive if look at PE number. But their stock price hold up relative up due to many "support". So it depends what oil stock then, some with high gearing, high USD borrowing which may need to make provision for forex difference that may hit the P&L as well. With oil price plunging, those O&G company with due debt one may find banks want higher interest rate for refinancing. |
