Hi guys,

I just changed all the engine mountings.
Car very low vibration now,  very nice feeling.
But when accelerating from standstill will suddenly have shuddering noise n vibration,  then after that will be ok again when keep going.

Mechanic could not detect the problem n said could be there are some stress points causing it.  Need to send back the car to them for further ttroubleshooting.

Anyone experienced this after changing the mounts?
*
I actually experienced a weird low growling & grinding like noise from the left front wheel after changing all of the mountings. It eventually went away.

Hi persona expert,

I've just collect my Persona SV this afternoon. 1st thing I notice the car will vibrate when braking at >40km/h and will take time to slow down. May I know what's causing this and how to fix?
*
Hello there. Your Persona probably has uneven brake rotors, and you should ask for replacements. As for the long braking time, it seems to be normal for the Persona as the brakes aren't really known for being good (or at least the SV, B and M-line version).

Did u know wat caused i? t

No idea... I stopped my car by the side to check last time, but I couldn't determine what. It seems like the left wheel is slipping or something is slipping. It'll go away soon though.

Many thanks for the reply. Already went to SC today but they can't entertain due to Sunday slot already reserved for scheduled services  sweat.gif . Will go again tomorrow.
Is it dangerous to be driving with uneven brake rotor especially in rain condition? And is this problem common for Persona?
*
Hmmm. I don't really hear people complaining about uneven brake rotors on their newly bought Personas, or haven't noticed. It isn't dangerous as long as the rotors aren't out of shape enough to steer the car for you. smile.gif

I don't have any experience with any official or authorised Proton SC since I got my Persona used. What I know however is that it's relatively problem free since I have done all the necessary servicing and replacements. The two major problem I have with it so far is the fact that some internal component of the dashboard (I suspect the air-cond piping) is loose and causing some intermittent rattling noise, and that the radio is rarely clear (I'm not sure if it's a problem with the wiring or with the head unit. I had the antenna replaced quite recently, but it didn't solve the reception problem). I quite regret not taking more in-depth measures to suppress any possible noise source when the dash was dismantled for air-cond servicing. grumble.gif

*If* you have the money to buy Vios, you should go for a Honda City instead, or if you're willing to take on the risk of owning a Proton, a Suprima S. The Vios ridiculously bare for the price Toyota is asking for, and the latest facelift with the push-start button and some other shizz is really pointless. laugh.gif

Still sticking to his shop, but I haven't visited him for quite some time since there's nothing I need to do at the moment. laugh.gif Bo lui to pay someone to dismantle the dash, and no tools to do the job. I don't have the socket extension, so i can't reach some of the bolts deep inside the dash.

P > pull handbrake > release foot brake > off engine.
How come you release foot brake then only pull handbrake? Isn't that stressing the P gear lockpin?
*
This one stresses out the parking pin as well unless your car doesn't move at all once you release the foot brake.

QUOTE(iskazulka @ Mar 16 2015, 09:54 AM)
weird.
*
I do this all the time. Initially always applied p and hand brake together before releasing the foot brake, but I noticed that it causes the gear shift to be harder than usual + the car will move a little as you do this even with the hand brake on, showing that the car actually was held by the parking pin rather than the hand brake completely.

I don't apply P anymore however, since the Persona doesn't have any safety mechanism related to the gears.

Who serviced their IAFM unit before at Dori's? Does it eliminate the noise only or also restores the performance? I feel that my car's acceleration is pretty slow now.

Planning to repaint my car , any idea what colour is nice? The stock car colour which I found it is nice are brown, blue , white, black, red. Any alternative nice colours
*
Brilliant Red and Black are both really nice on the Persona especially if it's polished. Makes the car look very refined. Elegant Brown is not bad, but it's a little dull if not polished. Blue doesn't really look that attractive in reality. White is also pretty nice, but if you want paint that has a mirror look when polished, White is not the colour to go for.

QUOTE(jacqueslim @ Apr 11 2015, 03:41 PM)
what's the average fuel consumption u all have currently?
previously mine around 8l/100km
but recently with same style driving...it increased to 9l/100km
service everything on time...
just reached 100k mileage
*
Mine's averaging around 10L ~ 13L/100KM accordingly to Fuelly, but I don't do much highway driving + light pedal movements.

Have you tried doing some extra servicing like throttle body cleaning and fuel injector cleaning (through the use of chemicals that will be put into the fuel tank)? If you haven't, I suggest messaging ThunderGod_Cid @ Elton to do it.

Anyway, I recently found out that my HU unit has an AUX function (after searching on the internet and enabling it through holding the Mode button). I need to get the special connector for this however, which is apparently this:

Does anyone know where I can source for this particular cable for a reasonable price?

Hello guys,

Need some advice.
After the heavy downpour just now in the Klang Valley, my persona sv alarm just went crazy. I can't use my alarm to lock my car and have no choice but to use key to manually lock it.

Any 1 of you have any such experience?

Thanks in advance.
*
No experience on this. I however used to have issues with my alarm buzzer sounding like it was drowned after every downpour. I solved this by taping off the electrical connector that hangs off near it. I eventually disabled the alarm sound though cause I don't like it.

I just replaced my front door seals and my rear left door seals today. Can't give any comment about the difference now since my rear right door is running w/o any door seal, so all the noise from outside is coming in.

To those who plan to replace their door seals, please note that the spare parts shop may offer two different style of seals that will still fit onto the car's body, and one of them may cause your door to be harder to close.

1st type: \| The rubber has a U / V shape with the opening facing upwards. When your doors close, it gets sandwiched at the upper part. This is the default rubber for all my car doors apparently.

2nd type: O-| Not really an accurate representation. The " - " shows that the outer rubber O and the flat base | is connected together in the middle and is much thicker than what is seen here. This rubber compresses to be something like this " []" when the door is closed. It works fine for the front doors, but for the rear doors it will cause you to have issues closing the doors.

Total damage: Close to RM300 with GST grumble.gif

Just to add, I also recently went to add front speakers to my car. I visited Sh@rty's shop for this (Syarikat Pengkhiasan Motor2 Kereta Soon Hin). The speakers that was suggested is the Alpine SPJ-17C2. These are pretty good speakers. The bass is well defined and strong, and it's quite clear as well. They're especially awesome when the LOUD function is on. So far the rear speakers work fine as well with LOUD On without any distortion for those who are wondering.

The problem now I have with this set-up is that the rear speakers' bass quite strong compared to the front. Turning up the bass for the front speakers causes the rear speakers' bass to be a little bit too much, LOUD on/off. The Fader function does help a little, but anything pass Fader Level 2 causes the music to sound like it's coming from the front speakers only.

Total damage: Close to RM300 as well

Update: AUX function works perfectly well in my car biggrin.gif. Those who have the older Persona (non-Elegance) can get the special AUX connector (Blaupunkt ISO 3.5MM connector) from ebay.com.my to enable the AUX function. The cost should be around RM20 ~ RM30+ only depending on where you order it from (Germany, Hong Kong etc). Mine took about 8 days to arrive from Germany.

The interior part of door requires the 3 screw from the inside to be removed then the interior cover can be removed right? Wan check something
*
Back door = 3 screws in total, two behind the door handle, one securing the power window console

Front door (Right) = 5 screws in total; 2 behind door handle, 1 securing the power window, 1 on the left and right(side of the door panel) of the door handle.
Front door (Left) = Virtually the same, the order for the last two screws aforementioned is reversed.
