QUOTE(chanhin @ Dec 13 2014, 02:10 AM) Budget models like PM5004, PM5005 as well as PM6005 are reasonable priced, but not the higher end like PM8005. I wonder what will happen to PM7005 Thanks to Topet recommendation, I got a good price from HiWay laser, hopefully will buy next month once B is out I bought during KLIAV 2014 for RM1700. After that is RM1999 from Desa if I remember well. RM2900 is certainly a no-no. This price can buy PM7005 already.... |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Dec 31 2014, 12:29 AM) Congratulation on the purchase. hmm, still figuring how to uitilize the Marantz PM6005 DAC via USB, it seems there is no way except an external sound card If you are using the built in DAC, let it burn in for a week, then it will soften with smoother sound. While for normal use, I found it take 30 to 40 minutes warm up time before it can shine. It also need certain volume to shine... While PM8005 lower volumn also chun. It is why now I am thinking if I should place my PM6005 inside the cabinet to fasten the warm up time. |

QUOTE(sonerin @ Dec 31 2014, 03:44 PM) Sorry to hijack this thread but I am curious to ask, why need to warm up first before it can shine ? Pm6005 is a solid amp right ? I thought only tube need warm up. Please correct me if I am wrong. I think is break in, when playing music in brand new state, I feel the bass a bit too strong, now I feel that the bass just nice after few days playback, whether it can be better will have to keep track 1st |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Mar 26 2015, 11:43 PM) Since Malaysia PM8005 is sky high... I got a Marantz PM6005 to drive Wharfedale Denton 80th Anniversary, feel that still need more juice, thus bought a USA budget power amp, but it is being held in Ipoh kastam, I'll have to take it this weekend and let you all know the power amp resultsHow about getting a TEAC U301 (DAC + Pre-amp) + Marantz Power Amp MM7025 (140 watt over 8 ohm~) The combo might even slightly cheaper than Malaysia's PM8005, but the value will be very high; (1) High quality DAC that can even do DSD. The looks of DAC also not bad. (2) More power at 140 watt, virtually can drive every floor stander What do you think? |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Jun 19 2015, 10:34 PM) IMO, PM5004 is not really good. Thus not for value as well. And I think Marantz should not have this 5 series in the first place. What do you guys feel about PM6005 headphone output sound quality? I think it's pretty messy everywhere, not good for all music genre, sound great on good mastering tracks, but not some oldies PM6004 and PM6005 are way much better than PM5004. These are great for bookself speakers, and not too bad for some floor stander such as Q700. If willing to buy from oversea, then surely PM8005 |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Jun 20 2015, 11:57 PM) PM5004 compare to AVR? Yes... Better.. But not good enought as minimum audiophile requrement. I see, ow you got Sennheiser HD650, how the sound? Is it sufficient in bass? Comfort? Is leakage of sound too much? My HD598 cannot be used in office, also the bass not very good if play some bass heavy music at louder volume. Where you bought from? Plan to buy HD650 maybe next year leh, i think it's a reference headphone? I do not like the headphone output quality when paired with HD650. It is like... Nothing interesting. |

QUOTE(chanhin @ Jun 21 2015, 03:10 AM) Everything is good with HD650. However, it seems the cheapest DAP that can give sufficient performance without amp is Cayin N6, which is very costly. Do hope the X5 gen 2 can give acceptable performance to HD650. mind to share where you bought? I see the price of JABEN is way too high, 2K sth, if some websites after convert only 1K sth... |

QUOTE(Dennos @ Nov 3 2015, 04:59 PM) Bro, Something like Marantz PM6005 + Wharfedale Diamond 122 consider entry level listening, if with decent recording consider mid-fi, if you give more power to the Diamond 122, you can crank loud and get better dynamic, but then the weakness is on the tweeter part, sound considered not very refine enough and will be a bit harsh even at higher volume, but can say good for normal music listening, though also depend what kind of music you mostly listen to, Marantz considered neutral amp, with musical touch, and excellent feature on the amp too, I believe Marantz PM8005 should be a better amp at more costcan give some review of your Marantz with Wharfedale 122. Plan to get Wharfedale 122 from Lazada offer ... Thanks |
