Has anyone ever compared Marantz CD player eg cd6006 to a bluray player eg pioneer bdp-180 on the analogue output when playing CD?

I’m curious what differences can be heard.

thanks for the response. i'm still not sure if i should buy a dedicated cd player.

but in my system i'm quite sure playing cd, although with bluray player, sounds better than playing hires flac files.

interesting comment about the usb port poor audio quality. for my yamaha r-n803, i realised the usb port is not good also.

i have to use the usb port of bluray player and optical out to the yamaha receiver for better sound. quite troublesome and also strange.

i use Dlna bit stream to same device, result is improved over usb high res flac & bluetooth Aac.
just realize this month

Been listening to the SA8005 for more than a month now. I am still stereo old school hardcopy CD and some SACD guys tongue.gif. To me it is really a good sounding player and as a Dac. Detail yet musical. The tonality, voice and instrumental timbre is spot on. Great bass with excellent mid to upper mid which able to unfold plenty of musical detail from an album. Listen to OST like lord of the ring, brave heart, gladiator, titanic is simply enveloping. Klemperer and Karajan Wagner orchestra music on EMI GRC50 remastered sound majestic thru it. karajan La Boheme vocal voices are all full and dramatic. Stereophile CD Intermezzo: Works for Piano by Brahms never sound so good as now. I was wondering if I could detect any justifiable significant change from CD6004. Yes, I do. It is a keeper.

IC is always cheap. The actual cost can as low as cents. Anyway, op amp is still widely used in low to high end player today. The sound quality can vary from none to significant all depend on what the designer or company want to achieve. Sound tweaking is black art too which is also highly subjective. Marantz had used their HDAM module to replace IC opamp since 1992 for their higher range series. Lower model still used op amp. HDAM is one of the key module that keep Marantz house sound where some like it and enjoying it. Today, their HDAM-SA2 module seem significantly improved the overall sound quality than the HDAM.

Initially HDAM was just for CDP output stage. Now used often as an upgrade in their newer or upgraded models with headphone out.

Anyone here using bare wire connection on both speaker and amp side?
I first tried on the speaker side got positive effect then recently tried on amp side got significant level up of overall sound even more. Worth a try if using  none exotic cable and plug.
*
i went from bare wire to generic banana plug. no diff

Greeting Marantz owners,

I'm looking to get Marantz M-CR612. The Spotify and Tidal features get my attention as I listen to online streaming alot in current days, though I have a few CDs to listen to too.
May I know the user experience on this feature?

Thanks.

initial turn on, need some loading time & connect wifi by itself.
after that, speed is acceptable from app control

speaker u can choose something cost double of this device.
the result is more than average output from ppl would imagined

Can connect via network cable?

Choose speaker that costs double of this device... That would blow my budget. 😅
I'm actually thinking about Dynaudio Emit M20 or Elac Debut DBR62.
Would these speakers do justice to the receiver?
Or maybe I should consider a cheaper option for the network receiver?
*

haha just want to maximize its ability. myself very impressed.
if u ok with elac tuning, try to aim unifi serie. near dbr cost with 3way crossover.

receiver i guess there is no other choice to compete with marantz functions. unless at higher cost or bigger body

Noted, bro.

Afterall, I'm new in this and I haven't been (and choose not to be) exposed to all the intergrated amplifiers yet. 😛

Me look at the price of other higher end network receivers also😵😵
*
prefer unifi with front bass port than the slim version rear port (not easy)
overall size is still smaller than DBR.

among ur headfi gear, which ATH u love the most?

i dont have time to read all. few ppl are mentioning the unifi not good when volume up loud
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/in...ed.15736/page-2

"Hello,

The UniFi 2.0 have a similar tonal character to the Debut Reference speaker. The UniFi 2.0 is better for music as it is a 3-way speaker design where the Debut Reference is a 2-ways speaker.
Also the UniFi 2.0 has a concentric mounted tweeter and midrange driver which gives it really good sound stage and imaging.

For dual use Music and home theater either one can be used. Go with the Debut Reference if you prefer a nicer looking real wood veneer cabinet.
Go with the UniFI 2.0 if having the best sound quality is the number one thing for you.

Respectfully,
ELAC Customer Service"

Elac unifi needs lots of power. The MCR may not be a good choice. Can consider the Yamaha R-N803 as well if within your budget. Yamaha Musicast is able to stream from many sources like Spotify and tidal and its 100 Watts per channel at 8 ohms if I remember correctly.

marantz told magazine reviewer say b&w 802d3 no problem.

I see. Based on the reviews I have read thus far, I would say unifi is a better performing speaker overall.

I love W1000 for the warm sound with both male and female vocals. But AD2000x outperforms it in terms of sound imaging and sound stage. It's hard to choose which is my favourite. 😅
However, there's this W3000Anv that I have tried a few times and I would say it stays on the top of my list for ATH cans.
Thanks for the input. I shall dig into it later.
@ktek,
By the way, can CR612 be connected to an integrated amp? Let say if I have extra money one day and plan to upgrade the system.
*
he got rca & headphone output, u may join other devices no problem.

now im streaming radio on mcr611 to monitor audio silver floorstanding set. very good separation by nature of 3 way crossover.

So?

Are you saying that the elac Unifi and that B&W have the same sensitivity and impedance curve? So if it can drive the b&w then can drive the Unifi? And what does "no problem" mean? And you believe what Marantz says? There is really so many things wrong with your statement.

My Rm200 breeze audio chip amp with 10 Watts per channel also can drive that b&w but if you think that its going to do the speakers justice then you are just kidding yourself.

Using the parallel bridge output means I will be using just the DAC section and bypass the amplifier section of the receiver?
*
bridge output = joining two amp channel (stereo) into one (mono) to drive difficult load. cooperating together.
we frequently see this function in car audio.

the original device got 2Left 2Right output for two pair of speakers.
after u enable PBTL will make use of 2x2 amp channel to 1Left 1Right only

no relation Dac or bypass amp haha
