QUOTE(bad2928 @ Mar 12 2017, 02:21 PM) Your air-con very strong le... So cold there...<Just kidding> I agreed PM6005, PM6006 and PM8005 is kind of never hot... the most is a little bit warm. But Marantz AVR is another story... They indeed get hot... which I guess consume much more electricity. Thus to save the earth and consume less electricity, we should move forward to stereo system (not class A)... |

QUOTE(wim1983 @ Mar 17 2017, 12:46 PM) Yes bro, at this price, I feel that I need more power for ultimate blasting, pretty complete amp but the power capped at 70watt 4 ohm, which insufficient for some extreme volume for some concerts For normal listening, it would be fine though QUOTE(wim1983 @ Mar 18 2017, 01:10 PM) haha too bad, the HD-AMP1 is so close to ultimate, just one more step on the power spec, all solved if that's really happen You decided to sell a new toy within a week??? |

Just bought a matching color PM8005 for my NA8005.
PM8005 + NA8005 = Very natural music sound, low freq very smooth, smoother than PM6005. I know the picture looks weird where the PM8005 looks way bigger than NA8005. It is not due to wrong angle. The fact is... PM8005 indeed much bigger than NA8005... And it is also very heavy. This post has been edited by chanhin: Apr 21 2017, 11:08 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Something is weird and I do not understand;
Setup A - Lossless PCM Music wave files @ NAS ==> LAN ==> HiMedia Q10 Pro (max vol to max bit transfer) ==> co-axis digital ==> NA8005 (as DAC) ==> PM8005 (Source Direct) ==> KEF Q700 Setup B - Lossless PCM Music wave files @ NAS ==> LAN ==> NA8005 (use music server function) ==> PM8005 (Source Direct) ==> KEF Q700 How come setup B give way better sound than setup A? It should be the same as both setup are using the NA8005 DAC, thus should be same result right? The volume is identical from both setup. The setup B clearly better with much more details. Is it possible the NA8005 actually add some modifications aka ajinomoto to the sound? But if it does, usually has sub-effects, which I did not notice any. Any1 has any idea? QUOTE(ktek @ Apr 27 2017, 08:37 AM) lossless pcm is rip from cd rite? You are right. PCM is ripped from CD.44100hz droid app is possible to run 48000hz (suitable for bd bitstream and newer hires codec) Good point... I wonder if I can see the sampling rate from NA8005. Anyone? I know some DAC will show it... |

QUOTE(wim1983 @ Apr 27 2017, 10:06 AM) QUOTE(ktek @ Apr 27 2017, 10:28 AM) I think now the highest chance of root cause is due to the resampling rate... It actually make sense for any media player to focus on movies... and ignore hifi music playback, which is not their domains.. If need to support Ripped wave file, they will need another clock in the player. |

QUOTE(bad2928 @ Apr 27 2017, 05:14 PM) no la..most HD audio in 48khz 24bit,only certain movie decode with 96khz but its pointless because audyssey down sample to 48khz.you can check sample rate very easy if your movie/player source from pc QUOTE(ktek @ Apr 27 2017, 05:41 PM) So what displayed in AVR is correct? In that case I can use AVR to detect the media player digital out sampling rate. |

CD player over long run, need to replace laser head as power weaken, motorized part can spoilt.last time i buy a used pm7001 at 900rm. pm7200 about same age but higher grade so u can estimate. cd5001 kira entry level. new model 1500rm. not sure u want this as we are moving to digital media /streaming age now. The new solution is using streamer like Marantz NA6005 or NA8005 |

QUOTE(wim1983 @ May 1 2017, 08:19 PM) That day chat with a HiFi guy, he is using NA8005, according to him seem some firmware problem after upgrade, and warranty does not cover that, he feel very upset about it, coz it's very expensive like 10K Mine no issue. I think firmware upgrade completed without issue after I use the DMZ.However, after firmware upgrade, I still fail to get similar sound character as NA-11S1, which I like very much. |
