Marantz can choose if in % of db for newer version.

Personally I prefer %

I agreed PM6005, PM6006 and PM8005 is kind of never hot... the most is a little bit warm.

But Marantz AVR is another story... They indeed get hot... which I guess consume much more electricity.

Thus to save the earth and consume less electricity, we should move forward to stereo system (not class A)...

Just bought a matching color PM8005 for my NA8005.

PM8005 + NA8005 = Very natural music sound, low freq very smooth, smoother than PM6005.

I know the picture looks weird where the PM8005 looks way bigger than NA8005. It is not due to wrong angle. The fact is... PM8005 indeed much bigger than NA8005... And it is also very heavy.

Something is weird and I do not understand;

Setup A - Lossless PCM Music wave files @ NAS ==> LAN ==> HiMedia Q10 Pro (max vol to max bit transfer) ==> co-axis digital ==> NA8005 (as DAC) ==> PM8005 (Source Direct) ==> KEF Q700

Setup B - Lossless PCM Music wave files @ NAS ==> LAN ==> NA8005 (use music server function) ==> PM8005 (Source Direct) ==> KEF Q700

How come setup B give way better sound than setup A? It should be the same as both setup are using the NA8005 DAC, thus should be same result right? The volume is identical from both setup.

The setup B clearly better with much more details. Is it possible the NA8005 actually add some modifications aka ajinomoto to the sound? But if it does, usually has sub-effects, which I did not notice any.

Any1 has any idea?

Good point... I wonder if I can see the sampling rate from NA8005. Anyone? I know some DAC will show it...

I think now the highest chance of root cause is due to the resampling rate... It actually make sense for any media player to focus on movies... and ignore hifi music playback, which is not their domains.. If need to support Ripped wave file, they will need another clock in the player.

AVR can show, but dunno correct or not...

Like DTS HA MA stream, my 5010 show 48kHz sampling rate only...

So what displayed in AVR is correct? In that case I can use AVR to detect the media player digital out sampling rate.

Which model you know? NA series or SR series?

For study room, computer room?
Match with what speaker? KEF Q100?

CD player over long run, need to replace laser head as power weaken, motorized part can spoilt.

The new solution is using streamer like Marantz NA6005 or NA8005

Mine no issue. I think firmware upgrade completed without issue after I use the DMZ.

However, after firmware upgrade, I still fail to get similar sound character as NA-11S1, which I like very much.
