Is the Corsair K70 with Blue Switch a good choice for a first time user? Always loved Corsair's design and the palm rest is a BIG factor in the purchase biggrin.gif

I always thought they cost a lot more, only to realise the K70 is around RM400 ish...

Wait a second, if I select blue switches, I get blue backlight? If so, I'd definitely get the Red because red backlit is just so awesome

refer to my post above
Why corsair but not ducky those ah ?

Palm rest.

And partly because of the design and back-lit, raised key caps compared to other mech kb.

Not good ah? Apa beza with Ducky?

Oh... the design and backlit...
Other brand is like traditional design, maybe not attractive to you?
*
You are partly correct though the palm rest is one of the few reasons why I like the design. I have a wired keyboard with a palm rest and it was so good, switching back to a keyboard without a plam rest was hard sad.gif

And yeah, most of the other keyboards apart from the Corsair ones look very similar in layout and design IMHO

The backlit in the Corsair K70 is quite spread out because of the design of the keycaps or switch?

You can always get an aftermarket palm rest.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For those always use numpad in keyboard, can always get a tenkeypad.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For keyboard, get TKL or 60%.

Here, people here not always get full layout keyboard in-built with palm rest, volume controller and etc in the same keyboard.
TLDR: People here don't buy AIO keyboard.

Ya, the fact that K70 has extremely high LED failure rates. You can always claim the warranty because of this.
*
Palm rest, if wanna get locally here, will cost around how much?

Honestly I don't need those extra medie keys, I never use them anyway.

So, let's say I'm looking for something other than the Corsair but it must have a red backlit keyboard and Cherry Brown switches. I heard that Cherry Brown is tactile like Blue but less noisy, I don't want something noisy tongue.gif

At the lowest price point if possible, design doesn't matter since most look similar. If you can quote a few models, it would be great smile.gif

Any from these 2 topics?

if you want palm rest quovadis123 is selling look at his signature
yes brown is tactile but i do suggest you go feel them before you make you decision  you never know you might like something else
what size are you interested in ?  for TKL(tenkeyless) you can go for CM storm Rapid I but comes in white leds only
if not that ducky is your best bet in Malaysia for red LEDS
or you can get this to change them to red if you go with white LEDS

I just noticed the Rosewill RK9000 with silver colour. Wow it looks good!!

Edit: Any other recommendations for budget of RM200-350 for a silver/white keyboard

1) With Red backlit keyboard (the picture below is nice but I want red backlight)

user posted image

2) With non-red backlight

***If any keyboards with nicer design with a little bit of top up, do mention it here also laugh.gif

deck got red back lit
here is a new keyboard from ducky
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.7...67942523&type=1

Red coloue back lit is really hard to find unless non standard layout from CM storm

rosewill you need to be careful because they just started using kailh switches which is a cherry knock off

So what's the cheapest mech keyboard with red backlight? Don't need full size smile.gif

Can get anything around RM3XX? Any lubang? brows.gif

Edit: I noticed the CM Quick Fire Ultimate Red backlight from lingloong for RM335 only brows.gif

The trigger Z has a bigger keyboard base (which makes it look more spacious) and THERE'S A PALM REST!!! Only RM385 hmm.gif

Might go for Trigger Z biggrin.gif

Looks like for below RM400, CM is probably the only option for Red backlit keyboard.

CM Storm Rapid I vs Trigger Z vs QuickFire Ultimate ?

I know that Rapid I uses white LED whereas Trigger Z only has Blue LED on Blue caps (My preference is BLUE switch) but if the cost of moding the LED colour is reasonable, I might go for it, which depends on you guys experience between the 3 choices biggrin.gif

I heard that Quickfire Ultimate uses lower quality keycaps?

Cm storm latest cherry mx keyboards is the rapid -I so i think that would be a better choice and the cheapest way to change leds is led caps i told you earlier    http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r...728&abbucket=11
rapid i do have more lighting mode and solid build quality

i think you can pre order the ducky shine TKL but you need to contact cyntrix tech to do so

Sorry, didn't really know how it works...I mean the link you sent about the LED caps?

So at the bottom of each cap, there's an LED? If so, then how to connect all the electric circuit when I get the key caps. I always thought the LED lights are provided by the keyboard base, not the key caps.

Edit: I think I know how it works already, it's basically putting a coloured piece of plastic just above or next to the white backlight:
http://www.banggood.com/DayDream-LED-Cover...t-p-925837.html

I can't read Chinese, so is that 4.50 Yuan for 1 key cap? So changing the entire keyboard layout will cost a bomb? rclxub.gif

Can't find any info about the Ducky Shine TKL? I hope it's below RM400 as that's my budget sad.gif

Thanks for bearing with me notworthy.gif

The led is mounted on the switch itself and not the keycap. You don't have to connect anything. As you said its just removing your keycaps and putting a colored piece plastic above it.

Theres alot of keycaps in taobao for different prices. Search for 键帽 in taobao and look for yourself. If youre using chrome, right click and translate to english. though not accurate, think you'd understand.

Edit: I see you mean the led shades, its ¥ 4.50 / 10 pieces. Assuming youre on a TKL board it would be 9 x 4.50 = 40.5 yuan.

Shine 3 TKL you gotta order from cyntrix idk how long wait time but its Rm399.

I'd get the Shine 3 TKL if i were in your shoes.
*
Thanks. I think the intensity of red colour if I were to use red led covers, wouldn't be that high right? Would be as good as those pure red backlit keyboards?

Ohhh so it's only 40.5 Yuan which is pretty reasonable smile.gif

Actually, what's great about the Shine 3 TKL? RM399 is higher than my budget but it's worth considering if it's good. Let's say compare it with the CM Trigger I tongue.gif

I'd most likely go for Blue switch hmm.gif or Brown if it's ok with me. I like the clicky feel biggrin.gif

Edit: Ohh Shine 3 TKL has blue switch with red backlight http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index....ct_detail&p=544

It's interesting because if I get a white backlight, I can easily alternate between white backlight or red backlight by using red led covers, so in a way, I can choose between red or white! But if I were to choose red, I can only get red. I could probably get white LED if I were to do some modding? But that is another question alltogether biggrin.gif

Or if you want to get from taobao

http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r...728&abbucket=11

I bought mine from this guy along with some other stuff. Go to service noticeboard subforum and look for taobao agents and read their first page if you don't know how.

How many led covers do I need for a tenkeyless setup roughly ah?

Edit: Wooohhh I would need 88 caps for a standard tenkeyless setup hmm.gif

Btw thanks man smile.gif

I'm getting the CM storm rapid-I because of the LED backlight and also because it's tenkeyless biggrin.gif

Not sure if I will notice the difference as i'm lubing and swapping springs as well. Many claims that its more for aesthetic purpose and less of actual feel though i dont know. But if you're already opening up the switches might as well do it!
How much are you paying for the rapid i?
