In any case, just get the pcb mounted switches. You can always clip the 2 legs off at the bottom if you plan to plate mount it. But yes, the two pins stabilizes the switch if there's not plate. I usually use pcb mount switch even if I have plate, provided the pcb supports the pcb mounted switch.
ya the pcb mounted one usually very hard to find or more expensive haha thats why i am asking to see is the pcb worth the price
Really ? I've only purchased my switches from 7Bit. The pcb & plate mounted are the same price. And that was only because the switches I ordered from mechanicalkeyboards was not delivered to me, for some reason the switches reached the UK but wasn't delivered to me and got sent back to the USA. >_> Where do you guys source your switches anyways ?
From taobao the price varies but cheapest is RMB3.5 per switches for plate and 4.5 for PCB so if i were to take 90 (P) RMB 315 = rm172 (PCB)RMB405=RM221 so there is a lot of difference in a large quantity
i was reading the the description saying cherry dont produce pcb so often there fore the price LOL
Thanks for the praise. I still don't know if it will work. Save cost ma, let ppl do have to charge me also, le me poor le.
For lube, I'm not sure, never tried it. Best is to mod everything and save lubing for last.
Actually the sticker is to stabilize the switch?
Oh yea, I've seen Vortex PBT double shot backlight caps, looks so nice, the razer one is rubbish.
Sprit on geekhack still selling golden springs. Anyway, the Brown feels quite light, feels like need a ever so slightly stiffer spring to be perfect for me.
i dont think its a good i deal to mod a razer. my friend used the same keybaord as you broken so i harvest the switches and i see the way the seal the plate is not beginner friendly. you might as well get a new keyboard for switches you already spending around rm220 on switches alone brown is china RMB 3.5 you need 110 of them.and lastly razer PCB having alot of complaint for the 1st Blackwidow. razer is using non standard layout so be careful while looking for keycap .
i think RMA the problem will still persist... i dont really think theres any point of it
guess im gonna buy some keycaps
i just traded my Ducky shine 3 mx green(few months old ) to a mx red (1 year old board) no led problem what so ever so i guess its luck lol XD even my old razer BWU 2013 used 1 year no issue

So, if you guys remember my post about modding my BWU original, there will be a change in plan. After discussing with my sister, she said it's better to just change the spring(the weird feeling of the keys might be something to do with the springs), change out all the LEDs, add o-rings, lube it and perhaps add sticker to the switch because she is not some hardcore typist.
She said it will be better for me to save the money and buy a Korean custom kb in future. Is it ok?
you might as well save money aand us is as it is than get a new keyboard sooner. changing spring you need to desolder to open the and open the switches you need to spend at least rm100 from spring(10USD) ,led(rm30),o-ring(rm20),service solder and desolder will cost you alot so you might as well just used till keybaord broken than change

This thread really poison sia... I got my own soldering iron and my soldering skills is not that bad IMO. lol Throwing off that BWU is like wasting though, and I don't have enough cash in hand to straight go buy a custom Korean kb..hehe Plus my sister just agreed she'll fund this "repair"..
is not that your soldering skill bad you need a proper solder station which also going to cost you a good sum of your money (without temperature control you might burn the pcb) just used the keyboard until end of its lifespan than move on with a new keyboard best not to do anything to it that's the best option.unless you sell for a lose and get a new keyboard and dont go custom so fast go try other than razer before going custom. Razer is not a really good quality keyboard so you might want to try other brand like Filco, Ducky and ETC.
Thanks for reminding.. Hahaha... No la, what my sister meant is like "fix this shit until it works properly, save that extra and go buy yourself a new kb, this one is mine from now on"...lol I actually work on making custom cables for my IEMs, and I do aware that those cheap soldering iron and burn the PCB or even burn the component, eyed on soldering station for quite awhile but idk which specific shop to get the model I want.
That time when I bought that Razer, is more of the hype than my knowledge about advantage of mech kb. That time also Filco is in the price range, but I was attracted by the bling2 and the brand. Naive I was.. No more lezer kb, IMO their new switch felt like crap..
In future wanna try Topre.
since your sister complain its going to break down and going to fork out money for repair just get a new RM299 can get ducky zero make life easy bro and since you going custom sell your shure 535 and you get get the best custom out in the market with that dont make life difficult for yourself ask your sister to get her own keyboard https://www.facebook.com/cyntrixtech/photos...?type=3&theater
hmm how much for korean custom ? xD ( jz askinnnn ) but not sure will i like ABS caps or not, using pbt double shot now . custom or built in?
its depend what keyboard you are getting here is for winkeyless product which is little cheaper than kmac, gon, and other Korean custom http://winkeyless.kr/en/
i also from klang if i finished my B87 i can show you how winkeyless product looks like but you need to come to bukit tinggi by than haha

Hey guys, haven't lurked in here since forever. So, how was that Topre Heaven Keyboard that came out last year?
Also, what is the recommendation for a good budget mech keyboard right now?
you mean type haven ? i never tried before but i heard is not worth your money and straight go for real force or other topre. and the type haven is not available in malaysia
