. all kidding aside, i agree that finding a synergistic amp will be of utmost importance for optimal performance. after building my 1st DIY amp specifically to drive my W5k, i can honestly say that it completely changed my initial neutral impression of the importance of amplification.FWIW i hear the K701 (together with the HD650) scales the most with complementing ancillary components. however the only AKG that interests me is the K1k. indeed im seeking (albeit passively) to aquire a pair if it ever comes my way.
