I just bought a Q701, and to me it sounded very different from what I imagined. Based on what I read online so far, K701 and Q701 should sound very similar. But to me they are worlds apart from what I remember how the K701 sounded like.

About 2 years back I tested K701 in jaben, the soundstage is incredibly huge that everything sounded weird to my ears. It was plugged into some unknown expensive amp (heard that the amp is worth more than RM2k).

Currently I'm just running my Q701 with a cheapo China amp http://www.head-fi.org/t/407756/hifidiys-m...a-headphone-amp , but I'm happy with how it sounds. Soundstage is not that huge, but at least it sounded 'real' to me. And much to my surprise it's not hard to drive it up to loud volume.

Wonder anyone AB the K701 and Q701 before and what's your opinion ?

I enjoy the Q701 a lot. Huge improvement over my MS1 and it's less fatigue.

Yup, I truly agree with you on the volume and dynamic factor. Haha, I haven't really got chance to test any nice dac / amp. But I'm just really curious about the differences of Q701 and K701, as they sounded very different to me.
Can a dac / amp really make such a huge difference between those 2 ? Maybe I need to do more reading then
