QUOTE(sep90 @ Oct 30 2009, 03:30 PM)
shall i start 1st?
K1000 is the best that i heard in terms of soundstage and much closer to electrostatic range
to compare with HD800, it has neither mircodetails and inviting mids of K1000 except the bass  doh.gif
hated the K1000 headband and it gets very uncomfortable wearing for 1 hour to 2 hours
apparently u cant get anymore of K1000 in open market ...
hopefully u can ask when the new AKG's flagship cans will be out
*
AKG has taken the best of K1000 which is the audio quality into the K701 for the consumers, which is very much more comfortable the wear than the iconic K1000. The professional version is the K702 which is like the K1000 to be appreciated in a controlled environment.

At the moment, the classic K1000 is changing hands at around Euros1100 about RM5000 blink.gif

it's not suprise that K1000 is very hard to drive since it got a low sensitivity of 74db/mW..
it nid 256mW for 98db and 32.768W for 119db.....
however, 256mW should be enough coz the 98db can kill u ady..  cool.gif

actually u dun nid paste the review for me...
K1000 is the best headphone made by AKG, known by many ppl here.. laugh.gif

found some interest thing in the review:
I will not be discussing the Grado RS1 or the Sennheiser HD650 because, despite their aural qualities, I am only interested in headphones I find comfortable for the long term. Both the Grado and the Sennheiser exert too much of a clamping action for my taste,

seem like he dunno how to make grado's headphone to become more comfortable.... cool.gif

do u mean its very,i mean VERY,comfortable?

because i really in the search of a comfortable headphone.
i sold my M30 just a month after i bought it because i can wear it for only 2 hours tongue.gif .then bought A500,nice and comfy, but too big.not portable enuff sweat.gif
*
bcos of d leather ear pads & headband cushion, yes, u can wear d k450 for hrs w/o prb, using 1 personally ... d k450 is consider portable mini-headphones unlike M30 or A500 whc r ful size cans.

haha...dun wan...
i prefer keep one headphone only and accept all of the pros and cons...
this will save my pocket... wub.gif
next target may be MS2i.... << seriously poisoned by grado's signature...
but nid a long period to collect the money..
do u think i should go for an amp/dac 1st or straight go to MS2i?
now using sound card as source/amp..
and i read b4 that a grado will get least improvement from amped when compared to others such as HD650/AKG701... cool.gif
*
wen u spend most of ur time lugging around a bag full of iems / headphones & chkg out ur competitors, not sure can appreciate music anymore shocking.gif

u still dun understand what is the difference between audiophiles and normal consumer...  sweat.gif
those headphones/iems were born for audiophiles more than a consumer...
and a audiophile will try to find a most suitable equipment to giv the best definition of music to him....
if u say it is pointless to compare headphones, then how u know which headphone is most suitable for u? icon_idea.gif
luckily i found my favorite sound signature, and i'm enjoying the passion of music given by my MS1... cool.gif
for sep90, he is enjoying the various definitions from the headphones, and this is the way he enjoys music... icon_rolleyes.gif

lol.the one that served me like doesnt even know whether K420 do exist sweat.gif lol.but i pretty glad.though K450 is not what i hope much, but with that level,I can expect a whole lot better from K420 which highly regard as better than K450 smile.gif .Now really tempted  to try K420
*
portability came 1st wen these minis were designed & d $ is another factor, thr4 its not gonna perform ie d K701s of cos tongue.gif ... d comfort level & isolation of d K420 is no where near d K450, bcos its semi-open, separation is better. so it reali depends wat u need them 4, 2 run around w/o much traffic noise, d K450 is stil d better option. K420 wil do better in quiet environment cool.gif

an idea how compact d AKG K400 series both in use & folded away ...

QUOTE(Billmarkinc @ Nov 6 2009, 10:01 AM)
My only encounter with AKG was early this year when I was looking for something which might enhance my listening pleasure on MP3 players.  I am quite sure everybody agrees that headphones which were normally packed with all MP3 players are adequate but certainly not great.  Most MP3 players will benefit from better headphones.  I wasn't looking for in-ear types , so I shortlisted my choice to these two pairs.  The Sennheiser P100 and the AKG K26P.  Eventually I chose the AKGs because the sound is warmer but also bought the Sennheisers a month later because I keep getting rave reviews on this model.  The Sennheisers were more open and the sound stage is wider.  Sound is punchy only when volume is increased.  Low volume level listening is inferior to the AKGs.  My honest view is that both phones have their pros and cons but my personal preference is for the AKGs.
