I was disappointed too when I got my K701 and compared it head-to-head against my ex Grado SR80. If the SR80's bass has an index of 10, I rank the K701 a "2" instead.

Until now, I still feel that the K701's bass will never be as strong as the Beyers or Grados; but you know it is there. Finding a good headamp is critical too, and I personally find the K701 + LD2+ has virtually zero bass.

Ah well, you'll find yourself picking up all those minor minor details soon

I'm not sure its just my ears turning bad, or my memory fades... I start to feel the bass after my K701 past the 2000 hour mark.

wah, tempted to try the 336i! Before I got my hands on my Canamp, I have shortlisted the 336i and 332; but my "painful" experience on the LD2+ kindda hold me back from getting any valve amps to pair with my K701. So which one do you prefer? the MD-10 built-in headamp module or the 336i?

when will you be back in Malaysia? Maybe we can have a small K701 gathering (yeahs4.1 interested? ). I wanna audition the 336i!

ya thinner side at the front. ijan taught me to push the pads to the front (just imagine the thicker side of the foam touches the back of your ears). This way you can hear tons of bass from your AKG
