Hello there, now i've been a proud owner of the AKG Q460 for about 5 days now. Burnt them in since the 1st day, so total just over a hundred hours of non-stop music played.
For folks that don't know how the real thing looks like, here's a fine picture.

I will give my comments as how I hear them through my ears, and not commenting as an audiophile.
Lets begin our journey. My 1st impression when the seller handed my new toy to me. What can i say? Nothing much. Because everyone would feel full of joy when they get new toys! But i was impatient, i un-boxed the Qs(q460) as soon as i had the chance. In my case, i was in McDs in sungai wang.
Nothing much in it, just a few cables, an adaptor, a brochure, and a case to put the Qs in. The case is a hard case, that's a plus for me. Puts my heart at ease when i put them into my bag.
The Qs are constructed well, the plastic looks and feel sturdy enough, but don't hope for wonders. If you want wonders, you should take a look at B&W P5 which cost twice as much. They also have a folding mechanism so they could fit into the carrying case.
In my opinion, they look good, but not as good as Beats Solo HD. However, the build quality of the Qs are better then the Solo HDs and the Qs cost just over half of the Solo HDs cost.
Now - the sound, in my pursuit of music purity, i had gone through quite a few brands, including what i have mentioned above and Beats Studio.
Quick question, does the Qs fulfill my need for audio purity? No, they don't make you feel like shutting your eyes and make you feel the music is played by a live band in front of you. But they still sound good, but not as full as i would've wanted.
Vocals were a tad too bright, singers with deep voices would not sound right. Female vocals on the other hand sounded nicely.
In the mids, they lacked a little warmth, in low frequencies, it was nicely controlled. They don't thump your ears like the Beats do, that doesn't mean they sound bad in the low end, it's the opposite of sounding bad! They sound very good actually, full and true is the two words i would use to describe the low end. Although not as good as the B&W P5 but still very close, and better then the Beats. People may mistaken Beats thumping bass for good quality, that means your either a basshead or you don't know what the words "High-Fidelity" mean.
While listening to Eagles - Hotel California, each pick of a string was presented nicely, then the thump of the drum that followed sounded great, add the vocals, then background screams of the audience, and background instruments you never heard before can be heard with the Qs. That track gave me a big liking to the Qs. They sound nice indeed. Don't worry about how they would sound with more recent music artist like B.E.P, Snoop dog and Katty Perry. They will play them with no problem.
The Qs do tend to sound a bit direct and lack spaciousness. That could the main reason they could not "wow" me in the 1st place.
Overall sound and build quality is good, for me they are not as neutral and spacious as i've hoped for.
Hoped you understand and like my review.
