Just got offer letter. Submitted the WP application form to HR for them to process. May I know how long it will take to know i successfully got the WP ? And since I am getting WP, and not elligible for CPF , company decided to give 16% extra allowance to my salary .. Is it normal ?
*
I have worked in 2 fortune 500 MNCs, both also never give 16%. you are quite lucky.

guys, if i were to rent a room that does not give wifi, can i apply my own wifi ?how much does it cost .. and what bank do u think i should open and account for salary to be credited into it ?
*
You can consider opening in ocbc. For their ocbc 360 account they give you 1% interest if you credit your salary.

For WiFi you have to subscribe though telco. Performance will be similar to 3g/4g you get on your phone. OK for streaming video but If u want play game may have latency issue. I doubt your landlord will let you subscribe land line as cabling work is required

Hello guys, i juz recently got an offer to work at Singapore. The basic salary offered was SGD2000. I'm currently working at puchong with a basic salary of RM2200 + OT claim (average around RM400-RM500). The question is, is it worth to take the job with that salary in Singapore?
*
Calculate your expenses in SG, see how much you save and see whether its worth it or not. 2k sgd is a bit tough in SG if you plan to rent a room here IMO.

Guys. How much is considered high working in SG?

I believe there is some difference between how much fresh grad is getting paid in Msia and SG.

Let's say, if you have 1.5 years experience, Msia offering RM4800, SG offering (3600, no cpf so +632 = total 4232sgd), which one to go for?

malaysia = IT operations work, permanent staff
SG =  SAP implementation work, permanent staff + chance to travel.
*
You sure they will pay your cpf portion if you not pr? Most companies don't do that

Do all companies pay CPF for non PR staff? More specifically, do accounting firms do that?

The CPF portion would help so much in terms of rental.
*
Most companies do not pay the cpf portion (in cash) to non pr. However last I heard is big 4 do give non pr the additional 17% in cash. Not sure about smaller accounting firms

Hi guys, I was given an offer from a e&e company with the position of assistant engineer, and the starting pay is only 2,200sgd.

Should I take the offer? Personally I think that the salary is a bit low, and do note that I'm a degree holder in mechanical engineering instead of e&e.
*
Degree from where? You are being chopped. 2.2K SG is Diploma Pay

Problem is a lot of Singaporean companies rate Malaysia local degrees as equal to poly. So unless you are overseas grad, local 1st class honour student from Bigger Unis like UM, or foreign uni set up in Malaysia, its very hard to get 3k.

I would think that Poly grads with science/ finance based diploma should start with 2.2-2.4k.

1.8k is really chopping you IMO. You roughly to spend 600-700 on rental, 300-400 on food, 50-100 on transport, and 30-50 on phone.

Whether being a muslim would affect your life in Singapore really depends on you. For example there are halal stores in most hawker centres, but the utensils might be mixed with other stalls. If you want to have lunch with your colleagues, be prepared to share a table with them even though they order pork. If you are not willing to "compromise" then you can be prepared to be quite lonely during non working hours/ lunch time.

Mosques may be located further away from your office, and dont expect that you can take 3-4 hours off every Friday to go for your prayers + snake.

Hi guys

Would like to check with you all on something.

As I will be leaving to Singapore to find a job there, how long can a Malaysian stay in Singapore without Visa? Is it 60 days?

Thanks.
*
Think it's 30. Anyway if it's expiring u can just go jb and come back in again. As long as you do not stay more that 60 out of the past 90 days you are fine

Hi sifus! got question here.

As you all know that the lowest salary for a foreign with s-pass is S$2200 a month ma, then summore the company have to pay S$500 monthly to the government just to let foreigners to work in their company. So the problem is, this SME that i will be working for in the coming months, will deduct S$500 monthly from my salary.  sweat.gif

If this a normal thing in SG or is it just the SME kiam siap? (for those who wonder, i work in art & design field)

You can report them to Ministry of manpower, they are not supposed to do that. However it means that you probably wont get hired.

Hi i have just received my pr approval letter. May i know if is there any clinic provide x ray service until 7:00pm?

Where can i perform the x ray with more cheaper price?

Do i need to retest the hiv screening if i have performed the test within one year?

Hope anyone can enlighten me.

Thanks.
*
I don't think you need another medical check up if you did within one year. There is a statement in the letter you can check it. I remember I wasted money doing the check before I saw the statement

Hi, mind sharing what's the procedure like after receiving the approval letter and the required documents? My application is still pending, need some info in case i'm no longer in Singapore tongue.gif  Will they require any endorsements from the employer that issued the salary slips in your application??
*
If i remember correctly you need to get your employer to sign a form verifying that you are still in the company. The document requirements are listed in the letter you will received, and is very detailed.

the benefits of contract and perm differs alot in company x.x

Use your contract position as a stepping stone to a better company. The hardest part is getting your first job in singapore. I was a contract staff for my first job for 2 years. Then I changed company and applied for my pr

Should be no problem I think, since you are still working in Singapore (under a local company).
I have friends who came back to Malaysia and they did not renew their re-entry permit... subsequently they lost their PR too.
*
But their CPF is stuck in Singapore till 55? Not worth it i think.
