Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking here for a while and I found the inputs here quite useful, so I just wanted to say hi. I'm looking to relocate sometime next year and planning to share a flat with some of my colleagues. Hope to be in touch further as my relocation plan firms up.

For those having questions on CP21, here is my experience:

If your company knows that you are leaving Malaysia, they will withhold your last month pay and issue CP21 for you to submit to IRB with your last income tax return for the current year. Make sure that all your past income tax return has been submitted too. IRB may then ask for audit. (The IRB tax officer said she wanted to audit me, but in the end I didn't get any audit letter lol). After they are satisfied, they will issue you with a tax clearance letter, of which you will give a copy to your ex-company's HR so that they can release your last pay. With this tax clearance, you don't need to worry about filling Malaysia income tax until one day when you return to work in Malaysia.

If you did not do the whole process above, then you will need to file Malaysian income tax every year (put as nil).

Fyi, the legal way is actually the first one above.

Thanks for your sharing. Any idea if the procedure also applies if I'm just moving from the Malaysian branch of my company to the Singaporean one?

I tried applying in SG through jobstreet and such. Not many get back to me. Is the jobs in SG very competitive?

Wouldn't be able to advise you specifically regarding Singapore yet, but in general I would prefer keeping a well updated profile in LinkedIn to actually using a regular job hunting database like Jobstreet.
I regularly receive many unsolicited requests for interview from headhunters and hiring managers just based on my LinkedIn profile alone. I don't think I've used Jobstreet for years...

LinkedIn ... Heard of it... Thought it is just another social media portal like Facebook. Okay... advise taken.Thanks. Will try again.

Jobstreet is soo..... 2004? sweat.gif
I find it useful for screening for junior/entry level staff but somehow headhunters and referrals from personal networks are usually more effective for experienced people, at least based on my personal experience.

Anywhere I can find & apply job vacancies besides jobstreet?

if you are a relatively junior level executive desperate to get into Singapore ASAP I don't think you have any other choice except Jobstreet/JobsDB or cold calling your choice companies, but if you have the patience, spend a bit more time on your profile/CV and try LinkedIn. Another useful resource would be Glassdoor.
In all instances, having a well crafted resume makes you stand out from the competition.

I got my current job from Jobstreet. laugh.gif laugh.gif
My advise is if it is free, no harm clicking.
How long do you need to "waste" by just clicking apply?
Just because it is not favorable for others, does not mean it will definitely not be favorable for you.
Getting a job now is like striking the lottery, the more inroads you make, the higher the chances that one will lead you to your destination.
*
I'd qualify that statement if I were you: There are many cases out there of I-spammed-500-companies-why-don't-I-get-shortlisted type of threads out there. No harm clicking, if you paid reasonable attention to your resume....

Not only that, IINM potential employers using the SiVA database in Jobstreet have ways of tracking you. In the hypothetical scenario you spammed 30 companies and you made conflicting appointments for interview, you may have had to ditch some of those less favorable ones at the last minute. There's some karma involved in that because those companies could blacklist you in SiVA and it could affect your profile the next time you apply using Jobstreet: other potential employers could view your profile and have an unfavorable impression of you because they would know you don't honor your word.

Bottom line: IMHO you should not treat job-seeking like a lottery.
