QUOTE(Nevermore91 @ Mar 21 2015, 12:36 PM) Wow! Thts quite good for 2 person I cook home dishes and mainly vege. Lunch would be 2 dishes rice, meat and vege. Dinner then 3 dishes rice, meat, vege, tofu or egg and simple soup. I get my stuff from wet markets, fresher and a lot cheaper. I go there weekly last time, 70 to 100 SGD can cook for one full week.Do you mind sharing how you manage? For me I can cook at my room rental place. Not really particular on my food but i do take care of my diet but and nothing fancy or seafood. Also, some people are telling me that those hawker stall are cheaper than preparing own food which I nvr believe since Uni time i prepare my own food and help me save quite alot. Is it true? I cook mainly for health purposes, and the mums force us to. You don't save much cooking yourself in SG because of the cheap labour here compared to OZ or UK. For single person meal recommend you get a personal rice cooker and do steam dishes. Very convenient. Google it for recipe. I just got back from market, bringing back next week vege stuff 80 RM, 30 SGD only, can stuff full one whole hand carry already. If you buy premium beef then 30 SGD one meal also not enough. |

QUOTE(beancountz @ Apr 3 2015, 02:48 PM) don't pull my leg la dai kar jie. from the $5k, take home pay only $4k. Roughly la, I don't remember the exact figures.Condo installment is not an issue, the issue is the upfront 20% + stamp duty + ABSD. how to afford to buy a condo in the first place wor. Everyday have to OT work until 9pm, 10pm. where got time to cook? Car? Pay for COE until laosai also not enough leh. Now have to fork out 50% up front to buy car somemore. Fly home..not an issue la. but if u fly home every weekend, u see how much the flights budget eat into ur expenses.. Pub..kopitiam with those old uncles counted or not? I can eat out also. Every meal i eat out. Eat chap fan lor. Of cos still got money left. how much is the leftover? So, again, $5k got good life arr? 1) 5k, then 1k go to CPF + your boss part, you get 1+ k to pay your house installment, if you get a 3 bed room, rent out the 2 rooms you earn some more. If like me husband and wife combine, just make it for the installment. We save for 6-7 years for those downpayment misc fees working in SG. If you work in MY you also need years to save your downpayment, unless your father mother pay for you. So, 0 here. 2. Get a job where you are required to drive, then COE, installment subsidised. Petrol toll parking maintenance all ah gong's. Installment around 1k for a BM for your good life example. 3. Get a job that pay you to fly home, or don't rip your frequent flyer points for business trips. Done. I pay 1 or 2 tickets to go home only per month. Roughly 600 sgd if Airasia? 3. PUB means tenaga national and jabatan air, and gas. Not beer. Roughly 900 full air con including cable, fiber board band and 4g cell, this I share, so divide by 2 = 500. 4. Cooking decent good meals roughly 500 top, per person. 5. Give you go out eat drink play, 1k. 250 per weekend, this is very good budget for my good life already. 4k - 1k - 500 - 500 - 1k = Savings 1k per month. Of coz those above is low quality for atas people staying big mansion, drive lambo, fly first class, eat michelin, drink moet like water, year year go Swiss skiing trip those. MOM should give me advertisement fee for promoting good work life in SG. |

QUOTE(libragurlshirl @ Apr 3 2015, 05:57 PM) Thank goodness Fiona jie understands. She is 7 years younger than me. So when I was young, I was lonely, and when my sisters were born, they're my heaven! My parents leave them to me, i taught them everything I know. You'll be surprised how joyful it is seeing them growing into young lady, excel in their studies better than I do and talking back to you bout adulthood. She's a pure genius, excel in school since kindergarten, always top, and with all A+ You said she SPM? Come here for poly? Don't think uni here accept SPM even if full As.Seems like most of the people here don't support the idea of babysitting your sister through degree. Most of them came here alone to start from scratch, so they are more independent type. Nothing wrong for them to think those who can't stand on their own are less capable. Someday you just have to let her walk alone though, you can watch beside but can't help her in every other thing. I am the youngest, so I am the most spoil, and the one that achieve the least, both academically and professionally. I blame it partially on my brother and sister SG is quite safe for a student to do her study, I done mine here. You can hardly have a chance to get mug, access to drug, and stick with wrong group of friends if you are in the public uni. Those who got in are not those rich and useless kids. She would have close friends in school that would help each other in daily life. You should go enjoy your life too. Anyway, anything urgent happen 999 and 994 would reach her faster than you would even you are in SG, they are very efficient. You can just fly here in few hours if something happen, plenty of flights from KL to SG every hour. Good luck to your job application and hers too This post has been edited by Fiona Chin: Apr 4 2015, 12:41 PM |

QUOTE(Frank3 @ Apr 8 2015, 04:43 PM) I hope so... Actually my plan is i will apply PR alone then only ROM with my gf, but my future mother-in-law (work in SG over 20 years), she said ROM before apply PR is better, i may attach my spouse into one application and the chance of getting PR is higher, is this true? Nobody can be sure of the answer. Thanks! Frank Good point of married couple: You are perceived to be more mature, more responsibility and less prone to create trouble. Bad point of married couple for your case: Your wife is a WP. She has restriction by MOM. She may have negative impact and drag you down in your application. A double edge sword. |

QUOTE(Frank3 @ Apr 8 2015, 05:25 PM) Thanks for your opinion If you got PR, your wife still on WP, she would have married a PR, not allowed for WP!Is it possible i will get PR but my spouse cannot get PR if both of us in the application? Anyone face this kind of case? Frank QUOTE(Frank3 @ Apr 8 2015, 05:34 PM) Thx! Will check it later. Can marry, but cannot get pregnant for WP I think. So confirmed that no limitation to married non-PR or SC right? Thanks! Frank All these can write in and seek waiver one la. |
