Depends on age lo. If he is 26 years old only work for 2 years then is a great achievement. If he is 50 years old already at tail end of career then not really. Refer alaskanbunny post few pages back, $8k is like around 60th percentile only.

Anyways MacKiddo Fiona Chin chanti-sama yeahs4.1 all surely way more than that amount.

Hello Sirs,

I am 29 this year currently working as PM in one of ShenZhen factory producing Apple IPad. I came from manufacturing (test engineering) background. After comparing the environment and culture of China and SG, I feel like giving another try to search job in SG again. You really wouldn't imagine how messed up this Chinese place could be now..

It's obvious that manufacturing is dying in SG. Just want to try my luck tongue.gif

Anyone knows any factory has vacancy now? I am looking for role like test engineer, program manager/engineer.

Thanks!

Hi guys, I was given an offer from a e&e company with the position of assistant engineer, and the starting pay is only 2,200sgd.

Should I take the offer? Personally I think that the salary is a bit low, and do note that I'm a degree holder in mechanical engineering instead of e&e.

Depends. Are you fresh grad or are you 20-years experience?

biggrin.gif No experience memang kena chop one. But you kena chop more than me.

If you look further you should be able to find around 2.5~2.8 one.

Anyway... You can easily survive with 2.2k in SG with modest lifestyle (for a fresh grad, not modest for a 20 years experienced guy la). 400 (share) ~ 650 (single) for room rental, 100 for transport, 60 for phone, 500 for food, 100 for grocery. Still got around 800 savings.

800 x 2.65 = RM2120. That's almost your pay in MY d biggrin.gif

Btw... Got allowance or not? Mobile allowance, transport allowance that kind of thing. Also make sure you have proper medical coverage and annual leave.

Don't later one year only 7 days, take some leaves here and there then finish d biggrin.gif

Bro, in my opinion, try nego with them to get 2.5k .. With your degree, you should be getting 2.5-2.8k .. They low balling your pay .. Just nego with them and see what they respond ..
