Thanks for the swift response. I have new question.

1. The train system at Sg (MRT) is using cash, or some kind of card like Touch n Go?
2. What is the room rent rate for that place?
*
1. You can use cash but a lot more expensive than card. The card is call EzLink. You can use for MRT, Bus, LRT and Taxi. Even pay for food also can for certain merchandise only.
2. Depend on location, condition/type of the room, package (i.e. include aircond and utilities). It could be from 600 to 1200 per room.

Hi All,

Anyone apply for PR recently?
I got some question regarding for form 4A

On the employment section, Salary, previous Job in Malaysia ringgit, have to state in SGD, what conversion rate to use?

If apply under company sponsor and Not married / no spouse/ no children, do I still fill this section of the form as all N.A or can I leave it blank ?

No leh nomally MOM require just blood test (for HIV) and Xray (for TB). No urine test leh. Now don't know la.
Not really leh. I think is depend on MOM. MOM will say whether you need to go for the medical check.

And any extra than HIV and TB I think is company policy.

Hope you have planned your route. All the best for your interview. Anyway, Ezlink card can be bought at any MRT station or 7-11. Price is SGD 12 with SGD 7 value inside.

Just divide by 3 now. Also include your salary in RM. E.g. S$ 2000 (RM 6000).

Get the Nets Flashpay (NFP) card. More versatile than ezlink.

https://www.changirecommends.com/deal.aspx?id=1026

It can be used for transportation (bus, mrt, cabs) and at retail outlets (many more than ezlink).

Does all telcos in Singapore need to be on 2 year contract with 2B? I am shocked.  shocking.gif Usually in Malaysia, you are on 2 year contract only if the package comes with a new handphone.

I am thinking of getting a iphone 6S which costs me about RM2100 (Maxis) with contract. I have no problem signing up with them if I am still working in Malaysia. The problem is, I cannot tie up with Maxis or any Malaysian Telco, because I will be in Singapore next year (at least I plan to).

I was wondering if I should wait till I got a job in Singapore and buy the iphone there. What is the price of iphone 6S in Singapore? Any great offers from the telcos in Singapore? Cheaper than those offered in Malaysia? I am sure if we buy direct from Apple shop in Singapore, it will be expensive.
*
until now , i still using singtel prepaid.

laugh.gif Iphone only cheap when you getting it with plan, most people go for $60 buck plan ( all telco roughly the same).

Try get your company to pay for your monthly subscription, or better still ask them to get you the ultimate plan, you get 500 dollar voucher every year for phone upgrade.

Hi,

Can I ask how many interviews that we will go through to get a job offer from Sg?
I just get second interview with the team leader, does it means I have a higher chance to be employed?

There won't be a fix number of interview sessions to secure a job in SG. I'd been through 2-3 interview sessions per application, but recently just gotten an offer with just 1 interview

P/s: I've been following this thread for quite sometimes without posting anything. This would be my first post here smile.gif

I dare not ask for it. They may decide not to hire you if you ask too much. Anyway, thank you and others for your comments.

Anyway, do most owners /landlords have washing machines for tenants to use?

Practically every landlord will have a washing machine. Whether he/she lets tenants use it is a different story smile.gif As far as I know from friends (I have never rented room in SG before), typically tenants are allowed conditional use of the washing machine e.g. only x times a week, or only on certain days of the week, etc etc.

Hi there, first time posting in this thread. I need advice from you kind people.

I'm looking for a job in singapore, been looking a month already but no response at all, not even an email reply.

A bit of background: I'm currently working in UK, I have an Aussie degree and a UK masters. Work experience almost 5 years total in Msia, UK and Aussie. My partner is being transferred to Sg so I need also find a job there to move with him. Looking for mid-level exec job/low level manager job in marketing field. I've been sending applications through recruitment agencies, some direct to companies, and some through LinkedIn. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I haven't heard a peep from anywhere.

Questions: Is my method of job search (online job postings etc) wrong? How can I improve my chances of success? How do other Malaysians get jobs there? Should I undersell or oversell myself?

Partner is being transferred end of December, so I'm pretty desperate now. Please advice! Thanks very much

One month is really short. My wife (then fiancee) took over half a year to find her SG job, and that was before all the FT constraints came in.

Regarding your December deadline, my view is it is highly unlikely you will have a job offer signed by then. More likely your partner will have to go to Singapore and settle down first.

Once he or she is there, he/she can apply for an LTVP (long term visit pass) or dependent pass for you (trivial matter if you are married), then you resign your job, move to SG and shake legs for a few months while searching for a job.

If you're not married, LTVP also seems possible based on common-law relationship -- not sure what the details are but my angmoh colleague brought his fiancee over to SG on long term pass even though they were not married at the time.

At this stage it's better off that you ask friends & relatives to refer you into their network. Take up any offer that comes. Looking for job opening using online channel is frustrating because you are in competition with >100 applicants per position. With current social political turmoil in M'sia plus high SGD-MYR exchange rate this has aggravate the applications into SG

If you decide to quit your job and follow your partner to come and live in SG, you are in for another disappointment. Custom here don't allow you to overstay. Last time a friend that I know brought his gf (an East Msian) into SG, she was denied entry during her 3rd entry - being forced to tumpang friends place in KL. What an inconvenience.

If not you probably have to register ROM and using Dependant Pass to come.

I got 1 ang moh neighbour housing allowance 15k. The wife day day stay at home come bug me while I on leave with their cute toddlers. Why Malaysian cannot?
