Illegal liao. You got few options.

1. Tell the company no you not interested in this unlawful attempt to skirt regulations and you want the full quoted salary. Then the company will ask you to go screw yourself.
2. Take the job. Report company to MOM. Company get fined then they will find all sorts of ways to screw you.
3. Take the job and diam diam support illegal and unlawful activity.

If you want your marriage to be registered in Malaysia then yes. Otherwise just don't bother (but you and your wife will remain single status in Malaysia).

Interested to know what your concept of comfortable life is. $3k seems to me can live a damn luxurious life. Our own daikor MacKiddo senior petrol pump attendant mentor <$2k a month but still got SG car SG hdb taitai waifu and raise 3 kids. So $3k surely can live private condo liao.

Simple, supply and demand. If you've been trying for a while then obviously the demand in Singapore for your skills and experience is less than the supply available. So why would a company go through all the trouble to hire you (a foreigner) if the skills/experience they need is in abundant supply in Singapore? Because they think they can get you at a cheaper cost (i.e. below market rate) lo.

BTW lots of us here in this thread came over on parity (i.e. 1:1 sgd myr) or better. Me personally came over on 1.07 sgd to 1.00 myr. So it's not always that you kena tekan, it's whether the company willing to pay market rate for you or not.

Most of the beaches in SG got BBQ pit. Go online and rent it then every weekend do BBQ and announce here in J&C. Free booze and free food surely a lot of ppl will turn up. Maybe one or two of them might even not be batang.
