Hi Guys,

I am almost one year working in Singapore, with current weak Ringgit performance, how do you invest your SGD money?

1-Currently every month i dump my money in Malaysia (fixed deposit 7-8% per year profit).
2-Also i already have 2 houses in Malaysia, both for investment.
2-Thinking about to separate my cash investment here in Singapore, any suggestion for any good finance product in Singapore?

Thanks.
*
1. PM me if got 500k above. Will send down a super chio bu or mucho guy if that its your thing, to attend to your financial needs. Maybe 15% return, maybe -10%, bet it on your luck.
2. Don't have house in Malaysia, too much debt already.
3. As 1. If not dump it to your cpf. The stable strong sgd already earn more than your 7-8% in rm already. Buy house in SG good too. Month month got people help to pay installment and some extra allowance.
High risk high return short period = MBS and RWS.
Small risk high return long period = Hong bao Toto.

she can apply but is she prepare to pay for all those taxes on the Malaysia registered car? Amount could be quite substancial , up to almost what you need to pay to own a Sg registered car.

Show increase VEP more until the FTs feel the pinch so less car on the road. Push COE so high but allow foreign car to come in cheap. Hidup FTs.

depends on the nature of business, if the firm offers software support then will play business analyst role, developer change management all that.

but if the firm is actually doing something else, very likely its a support position

Ooo got bad impression for IT consultants due to the dark dark one that other banks prefer. Talk until sky but when do no solution come out. Good luck u.

QUOTE(yrh0413 @ Aug 22 2015, 12:30 AM)
it all depends on how you manage your personal finance.

$3k is pretty normal in Singapore, if you are single you can easily save $2k per month after minus off room rental, phone bill and food. Some of my colleagues earn more but they choose to stay in condos and avoid dining at hawker stalls.
*
Please forgive my big boss banker mogul who is so shocked that you can live a comfortable life with 3k. Can't even get a decent size condo with 3k now.

We always based on what is acceptable to our own expeirence and judge people who accept lower terms than us. For low class worker like us, got job got rice got shelter comfortable already. Your life you decide how you want live it bah. So jealous those people renting small room so easy to maintain.

PR:
2. Your boys (second generation PR) have to serve NS.
3. CPF contribution is actually beneficial to us because you earn employer's contribution too.
4. At retirement age us Malaysians can surrender our PR and withdraw all CPF in full.
5. You can purchase HDB.
On the #2 note: I have a close friend he received a letter from MINDEF asking him to report for NS the moment he was granted his PR. That time he was furious he thought MINDEF must have made a mistaken then later on he found out his dad was a Singaporean PR 20-30 years back.
*
2. No if your boys don't take up PR when they are baby so you can save on their bills.
3. Some company pay their CPF contribution to you if you are not PR.
5. You can't own any property else where if you want to buy resale HDB.

Hi Guys,

Recently moved here and wanted to ask everyone here 2 things.

1) What do you guys do during holidays and weekends? Other than going to shopping malls. It seems there is nothing much to do (other than the zoo and Universal Studios). Super bored during the long SG50 holiday.

2) Where to go for cheap happy hour drinks? I mean cheaper than the usual 15 dollars per pint affair. Any cheap and decent place to have a pint and hang out?
*
1) Start gathering friends. Join the LYN group here they will fix you up. Did not spend weekends in SG for a long time. Barred from flying recently and the weekend horde is really terrifying. Better off staying home and enjoy some movies or books.

2) Uni time - Zouk and St. James. Free drinks if you wear a skirt. Working - get an ang moh boss and you will be drinking free beer in every lunch and dinner meeting with his expat beer allowance. Family woman - hold home gatherings with friends and colleague. Cheap alcohol from DFS from oversea trips. Anything cheaper you have to do moonshine.

Well that's the thing I am worried about. They keep on emphasize that is what Singaporeans are getting but I doubt that. Was thinking of getting a job first and once more settled in only hop but at the same time I am worried it might be detrimental to the career.

Don't think its high for average graphic designer unless you made fame and become a celeb designer. After all, the median pay of local income is just only 4k now? Graphic designer should be in the lower band of skilled job aka lowly paid job in the city that doesn't value arts. All jobs are not created and paid equally. Its no good that everyone suddenly get paid five figures. Inflation is no good. Ain't going to pay 10 million for a condo in the next decade.

Different tolerance level and financial capability.

Those rich bunch will wonder isn't it awkward to share a ceiling or floor in HDB or condo with complete stranger?

Not awkward to share a party wall in terrace house?

Not awkward to share a fence in bungalow?

any of you guys encounter this during ur job application.
my friend got job offered in sg as engineer.
back in interview stage..expected salary he put 2.5k.At the end of the day, the company offered him somewhere near 3k. he told me Sg got benchmark salary range, so never worried that they gonna low baller u ?
Is that true ?
*
Some company will do that. They don't want you kaopehkaobu after knowing you got rip off because you under quote. Few hundred dollars are peanuts compared to the damage you will do after you go emo. They also don't want to be labeled as sweat office, not good for publicity.

U cant own a property when converting to sg citizen if im not mistaken

Prospls advise?
*
Should be ok for SG side. Maybe some issue from MY side coz now become foreigner maybe got restriction of land ownership or extra tax. SG got rule to sell off any landed or land if change citizenship or drop PR. MY so big maybe no such rule yet. A small political donation should settle your problem laugh.gif .

QUOTE(huaweie5830 @ Aug 31 2015, 06:16 PM)
Yup i plan to change property name to my mom, but dun knw can anot

Also even i change property owner, how bout the financing, dun knw wat would happen .....

So come out with an idea, directly get a sgd loan
*
If still subject to mortgage, its the bank to say yes or no. Most likely they will say no unless your mummy got big income to take loan buy over your property but you reimburse her at the back. Bank no accept "this my mummy I still pay the loan I want put her name for gift show I good boy but is to escape stamp duty kind of stuff." Normally tycoon will one time pay off the loan then do the transfer for their son daughter mother father and mistress. When do transfer then need do stamping, wah lao big sum money give gahmen give lawyer again.

sgrealestate our resident property tycoon will serve you well, with a fee though, in this situation.

It is normal for current malaysian seeking job in singapore.
What's more with the increase in competition looking for job when $1 = RM3.
Start slowly and learn. Once you get 3 yrs experience, then you can demand more.
*
I cannot understand this. After you get your 3 years experience, the one who demanded higher than you in the 1st place and got the better job also gained 3 years experience. You are back to square one. How to demand more?

Ok, now I work low pay for my boss who is 10 years senior than me. After 13 years, I will overtake his 10 years experience and he would be under me biggrin.gif .

This FT logic is really high level of talent only can understand.

Im not sure either. The letter that was given to me doesnt say anything about IPA. But the letter have my working permit number on it though.
I guess i just have to suck it up this time. Gonna try stay as long as i can.
*
You only have to suck it up if you yourself suck... There is no official statement it will affect your future WP EP PR Sinkie application, and MOM and ICA are not one sided towards the employers' side. Call this number for the official procedure for your no permit issue - 64385122.

FT can mean foreign talent or foreign trash, those that told you to suck it up are the latter themselves based their sucked experience before. The real foreign talents like our boss dedo makcikdo would tell the company to suck themselves.
