QUOTE(beancountz @ Oct 9 2015, 10:33 AM) I called up LTA customer service. They told me if the resident address in my EP is a Singapore address, I am considered a resident in Singapore and I can't drive a Malaysia car into Singapore. For my case, MOM did not even ask me what's my resident address, they automatically put my company's address (a singapore address) on my EP. Most probably its not that MOM didn't ask you, but your company didn't ask you when they submit details to MOMIs the LTA customer service telling me the right thing? Do the immigration check my EP address? |

QUOTE(bearbear @ Oct 12 2015, 01:29 AM) You can try if you like, from what i see so far LTA doesnt enforce this yet. The rule are there but they are not pressing it. But it is easy to enforce as you cross the border with EP yet your vehicle obviously overstay. Same reason why they have the 18 hour limitYou may try to purchase a HDB season parking, the system only allow Malaysian registered vehicle to park from 7am to 1030pm while Singaporean regiestered vehicle it is whole day. Why? They don't want people staying in SG to drive MY cars |

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Oct 12 2015, 04:13 PM) I thought its possible to drive in MY car everyday (for non-resident), or even park here for 14 days? They charge you accordingly per day 30 sgd only, to be consistent with what local car have paid for the COE. Yupp thats rightThis post has been edited by KilJim: Oct 12 2015, 05:27 PM |

You wont get a "real" studio for that price
But there are many renovated houses to resemble small studio apartments Basically imagine a house made into 8 rooms, each with their own attached bathroom and small "kitchen" corner Amenities like washing machine may or may not be shared That's the best you can get if you really need to stay alone for that budget This post has been edited by KilJim: Oct 14 2015, 11:43 AM |

QUOTE(teeyao888 @ Oct 14 2015, 02:08 PM) Dear Sifus, Without EP they will ask for $$ deposit, and you must have the tenancy agreement to show your addressI have a question to ask, currently just got employ to work in Singapore, haven start work yet but I already got the IPA letter, can I use the IPA letter to apply for a phone line first? As I would like to sort out everything before starting work. Better just to wait until you get your EP |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Oct 23 2015, 08:01 AM) you can take one without contract but generally it's slightly more expensive on the plan compares to contract. Starhub's plans are about $8 lower per month if you take it without the phone + contractNot sure about Singtel and M1, i think theirs is the same with/without contract Subsidy is in the phone, not the monthly fee which is why they want to bind you by contract |

QUOTE(MPIK @ Oct 29 2015, 05:38 PM) I think they are 2 groups here. I see, that makes more sense then1st group driving everyday from JB to SG 2nd group, used to drive in MY but stay in SG without own transport. But all of their complaints are due to 1 thing - they don't earn enough They're probably those ppl who think S$3k can give them the same lifestyle as RM9k in Malaysia I mean seriously can you imagine someone moving back to MY cause they can't park their car at roadsides...what kinda complaint is that man |

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Oct 30 2015, 08:40 AM) Lol u all damn look down on ppl tht stay in msia lor. Malaysias lifestyle is not suited for everyone, and neither is singapores hyper competitive lifestyle. Great if you can adapt, but if you cant just move on la. Why suffer and be unhappy. We're not looking down, it's just natural that people who prefer SG to have opinions that are sided towards SGI rly dont consider it as being wasted, and reeks of some kind of superiority complex. Just like how those people who moved back to MY have good opinions of MY and bad ones of SG Just that when you complain about things like small house, can't afford car, nothing to do on weekends...what is the real thing you are complaining about? Smart people can look beyond the words to understand what the real message is |

QUOTE(huaweie5830 @ Oct 30 2015, 11:36 AM) Lol, i think small house , car price, boring sg, are all truths They are truths for sure, but why do they have small houses and no car?Even singki complaint about this, dun think they wanna move to MY , lol Just accept the fact lah However, i do agree both country got its pro and cons Just matter s whether you can adopt to it The real truth is the answer to that Yupp the same applies to Singaporeans as well, not all Singaporeans are rich just like not all Malaysians have big house and nice car Pros and cons, if they're happy in MY there's nothing wrong To be honest it's possible that I may move back to MY in the future too, if I can't earn enough for a good life in SG |

QUOTE(ghodul @ Oct 30 2015, 07:26 PM) So that means HR will proceed with your application anyway since there's nothing a landlord will give you to show you have "booked" a place to stay Btw without your work pass approval your landlord wont be able to register you as a tenant This means they wont "book" the place for your either I suggest after a couple of weeks just tell your employer you found a place at XXX to rent and then chase them for the work pass |
