hey mate!

i just wonder the same thing too!
i am getting frustuated with my current job, and thinking of changing either to nail artist or hair dresser, but i got absolutely no experience or skill in these job, in my opinion, it's a good job,you can chat with your customer most of the time, and it's not really a hard job, but i have to find a cheap and quick course to learn the skill.

i dunno about the salary, really depends, since i am now in the uk, might probably can earn a handsome.

i am still considering whether gonna learn hair dressing or nail art, i like both! hair dressing gonna learn longer period. is nail art getting popular in malaysia now?coz may be in the future i can open one in malaysia.

if in uk you might earn around 250 pound perweek.that's 1000 pounds per month equal to around rm6800...just a rough figure tho

actually you can learn a complete beauty course, like nail art, hair dressing, aromatherapy, spatherapy, faciotherapy, watsoevertherapy, like that you really can earn a lot, especially from tips if you are a handsome guy and know how to flirt those auntie(know it from real life nail artist).they will come again and again and again and insist they only want you to serve them.

or you can start doing a mobile beauty business, like go to their house and do their hair or nail for those rich datin.

that is to diversify your still, beauty industry is still quite young in malaysia and you have lot's a future in these industry, from what i have seen here in uk, most of the time they do hair dressing and nail treatment at the same place, it's still something new in malaysia, so if got the expertise in both skills, plus you can do slimming treatment or facial treatment, you can earn serious money.no kidding.

Remember, dont keep the mindset that you can only find the job that ONLY related to what you have studied, that is why so many fresh grades are jobless, for example, a lawyer student cant find a job as a lawyer, but refuse to work as sales executive just because he/she think that it's not related to what he/she had studied.

the choices is in you. also, what you have learned in previous in uni is not wasted at all, it's an added knowledge into your skills. think like this, if you finish your study as mass comm student, dont judge yourself as mass comm graduate, instead think yourself as a person who just studied the knowledge of masscomm.

as chinese said, "hang hang chu zuang yuan" meaning that there's a chance to be successful no matter what field you are in.

what is that you so confuse about? is wasting more money worried you? is the future in nail technician worried you? is wasting you masscomm cert worried you? or because your mom suggestion worried you?

you choose what to do, not people tell you what to do, your friend or parents can only advice or guide you, not decide for you. the decision is in you.

mass comm is knowledge, nail course is skill, you cant apply your skill in to your knowledge, but you can apply your knowledge into your skill. for instance, you can apply your communication skills into your nail job, how to communicate to customer, how to make a customer happy stuff like that. it's applied to other course as well, let say you studied business management, you can apply your knowledge in business management into your nail art job in how to make the business more successful such as promotion, advertising etc.

let's say a person who studied law, but end up doing business, but his knowledge in law help him in dealing with everyday business transaction that's had to do with legal such as business law, consumer law, employment law, complaint, fraud, etc etc.

heh ah_suknat, ur so interested in hairdressing? im in the industry for 2 years now and earning near 2k a month. Working for people of course dont make much money unless you got a share or own the big and establish salon, seriously can make a lot of money, my big bos driving a bmw and my manager also not bad.

BTW hairdressing can really make money, if you know how to apply ur skills. I mean don't just expect the employer to pay you skyrocket salary, in your spare time you can do color, highlight, rebonding, cut as a freelancer and earn extra 2nd income every month.

My friend 10 years in the industry profesional stylist salary 2.4k++ only, but freelance at his home after work monthly can make more than 4k. During chinese new year, business at home only make 10k lol ! shakehead.gif

anyway, nail art, as in manicure/pedicure, its been increasingly popular lately, but im not sure if they pay you good salary. I see Nail Artz at Sunway Pyramid always got a customer flocking by.
