Zidane's headbutt. Dyer and Bowyer's punch up was nothing by comparison biggrin.gif

oops, prem only.

then... err....

punch up it is biggrin.gif I'd love to see Bardsley's tackle on the assistant ref though. Was it deliberate?

A few good memories.

1. FA Cup semi's, some years back - MU v Arsenal. A game that had everything. Red cards, penalties, nice goals, etc. MU won 3-2 I think, with a dazzling goal by Giggs.

2. Liverpool beating AC Milan from 3-0 down in CL final.

suicidal defending from some team..... cant remember which...
basically no one come forward to pressure the opposition player.

the opposition player just bring the ball from his own half all the way to the other end and score... no defenders or players close him down... just open the path to goal for him...

I don't know if you've seen it but I have a pic of Vinnie Jones tackling a mascott (small boy that enters the field with teams). The boy was playing with the ball and Vinnie came in at full swing sending the poor boy flying through the air. When asked Vinnie replied, "I went for the ball". It was voted one of the best football pics along with Gascoine's grimace as Vinnie Jones grabbed his manhood. I have the pic but can't seem to attach it. Here's a fact : for all his madness, Vinnie Jones doesn't consume alcohol.

His name is Rene Huguita otherwise known as 'El Loco'. Last played for Columbia at the 1990 World Cup where is eccentric nature got the better of him. He received a backpass from his defender while he was roaming outside his box. Roger Milla raced at him. Rather than clear the ball, our friend decided to try and dribble it past Milla. Needless to say, he lost posession and in the end, Milla was seen celebrating in trademark fashion at the corner flag.

Nice thread! rclxms.gif

Arsenal v Blackburn. Blackburn's keeper Friedel had the ball in his hand, he let go of the ball to kick it high away but Henry just coooolly nicked it and Friedel was left kicking air.

That really dropped my jaw. shocking.gif Too bad the goal didnt count.

once i saw a clip of a game in a really bad pitch, the ball was shot weakly and it rolls towards the keeper and when the keeper lowers his body to pick up the mid-paced rolling ball, the ball hit a bump" and it bounced up, over the keeper and into the net.

Back when Paolo Di Canio was still in West Ham (forgot which year tongue.gif, think it was 2000 or 2001 ), the match against Everton where he stopped and didn't score an open goal against an injured former Everton goalkeeper Paul Gerard. That was the one that won him the Fair Play award.

To me, even though it's the ultimate act of sportsmanship, but truthfully speaking, how many players today would actually do that if they were in the same situation? An example i saw the other day was Barca vs Letvski Sofia, when Gio was down injured, all the Sofia players already saw what happened yet they continued to attack Barca, even when the whole team was calling the ref to stop the game... vmad.gif ...this kind of act has really become a rare commodity in today's games...therefore, the Di Canio incident would be the craziest/strangest, but the most respectful thing I've seen in football notworthy.gif .

hahaha! David Seaman I think.
the craziest thing I think i've ever saw was Diego Forlan vs Sunderland (or was it Southampton)

he scored, opened his shirt, ran around like nuts. then kick off, he was unable to wear his shirt back on because he had a hard time trying to wear it laugh.gif

end up he was playing without a shirt on for a while.

Ah if you talk about fairplay then you have to mention Robbie Fowler's remonstration after his was adjuged to have been brought down by David Seaman. Fowler got up and waved his finger at the ref indicating that it wasn't a foul. Strangely the ref decided to uphold his decision and a penalty was awarded. Justice was done in the end as Patrick Berger was it? skied it.

I can't remember which season it was but the tabloids were speculating that Sol Campbell was gay. The next match after the story broke, a streaker came onto the field with a message for Campbell written across his back and an arrow pointing to his a$$h0le.

Funny thing was that the cameraman tracked the streaker for a good few minutes and Astro didn't even censor it. Why isn't there any female streakers?

I thought he just passed it back to the keeper? unsure.gif

my list would include:

EPL
i) In an Arsenal game, a streaker jumped onto the pitch and ran/parading around. What suprised me was that ASTRO Did not censor it and the man could be seen closeup with all his "jewel" dangling about. He was soon escorted out as the cam was focusing on his behind. rclxub.gif doh.gif

ii) the "Dyer vs Bowyer" incident dubbed "Looney Toons"

iii) Peter Enklemen letting a backpass from his defender go in which prompted fans to run onto the pitch and gesturing right in front of his face the "Wanker" sign. The fans were later banned from entering again.

EURO
i) Jimmy Jump running onto the pitch and threw a Barcelona Scarf at Luis Figo before running and jumping into the goal's Net. Amazing scenes..... laugh.gif

becks was much better...it didnt bounce...left his foot and straightaway hit the net...

ronaldinho's hocus pocus trick is magical...

never saw this live(obviously)...but george best dribbling.then taking of his boot in the middle of a dribble for some reason i dont know off...

essien stamping ben haim then pretending to be injured himself was funny as hell....bad con on his part...

di canio pushing the ref was a overexaggeration on the referee's part in my opinion....

ohh yeah..not forgetting, fletcher's dribbling goal against charlton....one for the record boks...dont think that will ever happem again...haha

Yeah, and with the Liquidator theme playing on the back, it makes it even funnier. But the craziest thing i ever saw was this women's football match. First they attacked each other with punches, then when the ref red carded both teams' players, they gang up on the ref. The ref retreated, fell down, buk bak buk bak buk bak. Ref owned by women. Priceless.

already saw the goal....like i said, becks was better...his shot left his boot and hit the net straightaway..not needing a bounce to hit the net....besides,alonso's goal was more due to goalkeeping error than anything..slightly further away no doubt but harper slipped...so no biggie...

For me it would have to be the goals... smile.gif

Welsh 'Wizard' Giggs - THAT goal against Gunners (against 3 - 4 experienced great defenders) in FA Cup semi-final. Most probably the best goal in FA Cup history. A truly breathtaking moment.

Tony Yeboah - A Leeds legend cracking home quality goals, but most famously for the goals of the crossbar! Supern volley stunners against Liverpool and Wimbledon. I'm sure a few of you seasoned football fans would remember it.

Beckham & Alonso - You know why. smile.gif

Bergkamp & Cantona & Zola & Klinsmann - Best EPL imports so far. Their presence transformed the style of their respective clubs into one of the slickest passing, most attractive, attacking football teams in Europe. You just gotta respect them for their presence and guidance and most importantly CLASSIC memorable goals.

i respect your view on that, but that doesnt mean we have to agree with u. so u didnt need to force us to agree everything things u say. dont act like some certain guy here who cant accept other people opinion and call people idiot. the moment he posted that out, he's only embarass himself because he failed to see the thread title properly, 'the strangest/craziest' thing.

i compare CL finals with another CL finals and 2 60 yards goals with one 60 yards goal, and i give my view on that. if u cant accept other people opinion (not directly to u, but the other guy) go back to ur own thread and post over there doh.gif

always open to other ppl opinions and not expecting anyone to accept my views...just like i said,IMO i think the becks one was better...had a chat with a liverpool supporting fren a few days back...and he agreed as the goal wasnt due to any goalkeeping error or so on....my OWN views plainly...

saw a blunder comp a few months back....this guy was taking a shot at goal....went thru the keepers legs and was en route to goal...there was a puddle of mud though and the ball got stcuk on it....this guy was already wheeling away in celebration when the ball went thru the keeper's leg and he expects the shot to hit the net....funny as feck when he realized it didnt...

FABIEN BARTHEZ!!!

when he played for man u, he used to do sumthing real funny quite a number of times.

He would put down da ball wait for damn long before a striker came running at him, and at da last moment, he would crouch down and start hugging da ball. He only did it towards da end of da games.

I saw another really old clip. It was on a vid that had to do with goalkeepers. This particular footage was really old man even before the days of Lev Yashin. Anyway, the keeper dived the foot of the player to claim the ball. The player lashed out at the ball and kicked the keeper in the head. The keeper then when into some sort of spasm before lying motionless on the ground, dead. shocking.gif

i think it's an arsenal game, when the linesman' offside flag broke! the linesman struggled to raise it up high (some more that time really offside)!

i think that time it was some referee who was being the linesman. can't remember whether it was mr poll or who. maybe some of you remember this.

the other guy that died who was mentioned in this thread, that was terribly sad. i guess its due to the scene, he smiled at the ref, dropped and thats all, you later see his team mates crying helplessly.

Did you manage to see the half-time rendition of YNWA at the Attaturk? The one Johan Cruyff himself remarked, "sent shivers down my spine" and turned Maradona into a Liverpool fan. I managed to download it from RAWK 2 years ago. You get the strong wind blowing through the stadium and then the defiant red army starts singing YNWA. All you can hear is a sea of voices and the wind, spine chilling indeed. All this and we were 3-0 down! I dare say, not many other fans would have done the same. At that moment, I was reminded what it means to be a red.

Get well messages are always nice to see and I believe every club would want to wish their players / managers a speedy recovery. When GH was ill, the Kop displayed a mosaic in his honour.

The following post was something I read some time ago but it is one of the most touching I have ever seen. Thought of sharing it with you lot. It was posted by a Genoa fan on RAWK.

QUOTE
First of all thanks for the various approval messages on mine post. Was a post spontaneous after the match of yesterday and the estimate and the affection that feed towards the Liverpool and above all for the KOP. Unfortunately the news that you had on our captain of those years is correct. Gianluca Signorini, our big captain, died on November 6 of 2002 but not for a cancer. But for a new illness called  sclerosi laterale amiotrofica (I don' t know the English translation) called also Gehring disease. Day May 24 2001, When Gianluca was still in life, is been organized in our stadium (Luigi Ferraris, Marassi) a match in his honour. Gianluca reduced by now to a semi-vegetative state was present to the match, it was a touching evening. Were used to to see our captain run and fight on the field, seeing it on an immobile wheelchair with only a tear which was getting down on his face was dramatic. Also I was personally crying like a child. All the stadium was in tears. That evening disputed a match in his honour where other ex players of the Genoa who played to Anfield (Ruotolo, Aguileira, Skhuravy, Torrente, Collovati, Caricola, Fiorin, Bortolazzi and so on) and also the Gianluca son.The match of Anfield Road of 1991 is considered as thick as example of the Gianluca strength. Was a leader both in and outside the field of game. A videotape was also published with the most beautiful images of the captain and some enterprises of that team. And the most important moment of that videotape is the match of Afield and that of Genova against the Liverpool (and also the derby against the Sampdoria won that year). At the end of the match his daughter read a letter written by Gianluca (using a computer program which was allowing to write with eyes)

I would like to get up and to run with you, but I cannot.
I would like to shout with you joy singing fans, but I cannot.
Would like this to be a dream, from which be roused perhaps happy, but it is not.
I would like my life to start again from where she stopped.
I would like to tell you thanks, for all the affection demonstrations, which you showed.
Want to thank you adhered to have to my solidarity appeal.
I want to thank who made possible all this, my old companions, the misters and you fans, whom I was seven splendid memorable years old.
I want you well.
Gian Luca, the captain.

While the daughter was pronouncing these words Gianluca was crying. Every person who was at the stadium at that moment understood that was the last time that them was seeing gianluca.  The happen, as he had asked the wife, the day of the funeral was put in the coffin wearing the shirt of the Genoa.

You excuse if I did this long description. But I thought right that you knew all that happened.

i can recall some, perhaps u remember them too..

- a guy called Martin Palermo, once played for Villareal. When he was young, he did played for Argentina for the 97 Copa ( i was in Sec 1 then...). In a match against Colombia, he missed smile.gif 3 penalty kick in that game alone. smile.gif 1 hit the bar, 1 hit the post and another 1 ballooned. Ironically, Colombia won 3-0.

- Once a Man Utd keeper, Mark Taibi, an easy to catch ball, slipped from his grab, then came out from the direction of his backside, then got into the net.. From the camera angle behind the goal, it seems as if the ball came out of his *******.. drool.gif

- Man Utd versus Tottenham. Half time Tottenham 3:0 Man Utd. Full time Tottenham 3:5 Man utd.

- A Man City player from Cameroon, he died on the picth, in a game of the intercontinental cup of 2003. The next day, the headline of the newspaper shown the picture of the player die with his eyes wide open, lying on the pitch. yawn.gif

- In a Sea game match, i cant remember which year was it. Indonesia vs Thailand. Both in the same group. The final match of the group they played each other, both wanna lose the game to avoid vietnam of the other group. At the final minute, an indonesian defender turned to kicked the ball deliberately into his own net. But both team still lost in the semi final.

Not really a malaysian club football fan but i remember watching one match 4 to 5 yrs back when a player made a sliding tackle and got caught between the legs in the goal post and stretchered off. Ouch!!

Yes, Carsley decided to plant his studs into the shin of his own teammate. I'm not a big fan of Cahill because of his onfield antics but you are right, Everton are going to miss him.

My colleague was jaga-ing this Sweden or Denmark league match i forgot. At first i thought why the satellite broadcast's is so glaring or the sun so bright. See clearly again its heavily snowing and they played full 90 minutes. doh.gif The ball they used also different, orange coloured that look like a beach ball. Then the fellas at the side have to clear the snow once in a while to show the side lines.

i remember reading about it too but cant remember the details. what i remember is that it happened in brazil (i think). team A was trashing team B by a huge goal difference then the referee out of pity took the ball and placed in at team A's penalty spot and scored for team B. technically the goal stood coz the referee is considered part of the pitch - with no reference to whether the obstruction was deliberate or not. cant remember what happened to the ref tho.

Bomb scare in the Bernebeu when Madrid played Real Sociedad in 2004.

The watch was stopped around 88 minutes. Was damn puzzled watching it on TV, didn't know what was happening.

oh, that was an attacking goal by kahn (that's why a yellow card!), after watching it so many times i still didn't knew that. I thought it was a defensive error blunder to have sent it to his own net. Now that's awesome!

throwing the ball to his own net, seems happening very frequent....

This one is weird. But not international football lar...

When we were playing football at a field in our neighbourhood, one of my friend answered his phone "while playing". The opponent were attacking & he's busy talking on the phone in the middle of the field...

Then I shouted at him: "Wei, ini bukan iklan DiGi la!!! Kalau nak telefon, jadi referee la u!!! Haiyaa!!!"...

A couple of seasons ago in an EPL game Fulham vs Lpool. van der sar came out of the penalty box to head the ball, somehow he badly positioned himself n missed it. Then a Lpool player dribbled past him n scored.

Roy Keane punching Alan Shearer. If Gary Neville did not hold him back a couple of centimeters, I think Shearer would be without his two front tooth now.

Malaysia 0-1 Phillipines (1991 SEA Games), Malaysia 0-1 Laos (forgot which SEA Games), Malaysia 0-1 Taiwan (Asian World Cup Qualifying Game. Taiwan team were part time players consist mainly factory workers as they dun have any professional league in their country. And FAM labeled their league standard as Super League)

Brunei won the Malaysia Cup. Selangor MPPJ won the Malaysia Cup. Any bets for Indah Water team or ISA to win?? ISA : if u dun let us win we will force detain u.

Stan Collymore's weak shot from outside the pitch against Ian Walker of Tottenham many years back. Pitch was bumpy, the ball was rolling towards the hands of Walker, then suddenly it bounced awkwardly and into the net.

Classic of all classic : Maradona's hand of God & Legs of God (best World Cup goal to me) against England 86.

Thats Rene Higuita from Columbia.

Actually he made that save just from a friendly game or testimonial game, not any competetive game. If not mistaken, the game was against Columbia when a speculative shot from one of the England players was gonna be a simple catch when Higuita just fell to the ground, flip his heels and kicked the ball away. Thats one of those priceless moments in football.

I find it funny how some people consider a keeper who let in 9 goals in 2 games as 'craziest/strangest things you've seen'.

perhaps they should watch more football games rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

or maybe they don't watch football games at all icon_idea.gif

Here are some of the most amazing things i've seen in footy:

- O'Shea's goal in yesterday's game at Anfield

- John Terry getting kicked in the face during the Carling Cup final against Arsenal

- Becks' goal against Wimbledon from the 1/2 line

- Liverpool's amazing long-range goals, especially those by Stevie G and (izzit?) Luis Garcia

- Miki Feher's death on the pitch (very sad scenes!)

- Fabien Barthez's miskick to Henry

- The Eric Cantona kungfu kick on that Palace fan!

one of the funniest thing ive seen is in la liga where real madrid was playing. Ronaldo kena hit by the ball at his crotch twice. All the players were laughing

Another one is in a match i played in, before kick off, my fren went to the center to start the match, and he fell down into a puddle of mud/water.

It's always funny to see ppl falling down by themselves laugh.gif

Craziest things are : roy keane's deliberate tackle on inge haaland (is it ? forgot la), zidane's headbutt, and the best of em all is the cantona's flying kick to that f***ing twat

yup he did it purposely. the thing is he thought the play was already stopped there, bcoz apparently the GK there should hav been red-carded. somehow the ref decided to allow the play n thats an own goal.

LMAO when the opponent player go n hug him. biggrin.gif
