Gimmicks, I'd say. Remember watch dogs? Most of the games released nowadays are more optimized for the "next gen" consoles. And realistically, how many people actually do own high-ends PCs? Those medium specs PCs (i5, gtx 750, 4gb ram, etc etc) are more than enough to play most games at medium-high specs. Probably looks better than on the consoles for someelse later people with mid and below PC owner will rage because of lagging when playing...
