New Product Introduction Engineer (NPI), Dell Penang

Hi all, My friend had an interview for New Product Introduction (NPI) this coming Friday. All the best to him first. Does anyone knows what is the work scope of NPI?  I am asking on his behalf. Responsibilities:
Responsible for timely introduction of quality new products to the factory Ensure accurate Bill of Materials structure for all products to meet regional requirements Define and lead various concurrent manufacturing projects to drive cost reduction, yield and quality initiatives Interacts with New Product Operations Team in the U.S, Procurement, Quality, Process Engineering, Manufacturing and other Engineering supporting groups to ensure smooth product introduction and Engineering change management Collaborate with cross-regionally mfg teams to leverage best practices
Requirements:
Computer Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science Degree with 1-2 years working experience preferably in PC manufacturing industry Strong organizational, problem-solving and strategic analysis attributes Strong knowledge on PC technology. Possession of Project Management and engineering change management knowledge skill would be an advantage Dynamic, motivated and versatile to advance change environment. Able to work under time constraint and cope with pressure Strong verbal and written communication skills with good interpersonal skill and ability to interact with various levels of people

I applied that day before but failed to get into the second level.
They told that the NPI engineer needs to realize the design from US into a prototype or final product.

Nevermind ... it's OK.
I did share this in the Dell thread.
I was called for a phone interview. They asked me several non-technical questions and at the end of the call, they said if I don't receive a call after a fortnight, I can considered myself not making to the next round. So that's all about it and I didn't receive a single call from them and I also made a call to them myself to ask the status of the phone interview. The HR personnel told me that it's still under consideration.

You're welcome ... hope that helps.  So your friend passed the phone interview? Is he/she going for a face-to-face interview at Dell plant? By the way, the NPI engineer position that I applied was based at Bukit Tengah, Seberang Prai plant.

Hmm my gf received a request for interview for this post too
It advertised the post in Dell Bayan Lepas but i think it's a mistake, should be in Bukit Tengah one

I am going to the interview tomorrow in DEll bukit tengah, ya you are right not in bayan lepas. they didnt call me for phone interview just ask me to interview directly, travel expenses on my own, else you don't need to come  cause they are not paying my transport

Hi, I worked as NPI also last time but with other manufacturing company, hmm very challenging job, many paperwork, and have to work on the product startup... what I can says, u will work in team involve many depts to make sure the product move to the production line without any problem, hmm u know product mainly come from usa or where is the company come from.. so it involve hardwork and many left this job since its really take ur time.. anyway if u stay with this job 10 years i guarantee manager position will be yours

Maybe different department. Not many companies will reimburse on interview candidates' expenditure.

Avago and Agilent will reimburse your expenses even though you're not hired.

I used to be in this department NPI is a good place to be if you know what to do.Is a bit tought at times as we are rushing for project but I like the team. Since my family move to KL I have no choice to follow.
If anyone of u get pass true do let me know maybe I can help ehhe. Call my manager see if there is still hope to go in a not. There are two manager in NPI Mr Cheng HUP and another one I dont remeber his name much cos he seldome in the plant.
