I think some people here in this forum buy supplements from Iherb.com. I have tried both Iherb.com and Vitacost.com and I would like to share my experience with both.

I can say that Iherb.com is so much better (at least four times better if counted in days) in terms of shipping to overseas than Vitacost.com. With Vitacost.com, they use DHL Global Mail where the rates start at $12.99 for any weight up to 3.6 lbs. With Iherb.com, they use DHL Express-International where the rates start at $10.00 for any weight up to 6 lbs. The last time I ordered from Iherb.com, it took me only four days (ordered on Monday and delivered on Friday) to receive my order. Not only is DHL Global Mail much slower (as of 1st December 2014, it is now taking 18 days and counting for me to receive my items, though I can track my order online), I can't understand why it is more expensive than DHL Express-International, which allows any weight up to 6 lbs for $10.00 and I receive my items within the same week. I really don't know how Iherb.com can have such good international shipping rates from DHL but it certainly doesn't augur well for Vitacost.com! As a result, I don't think I'll buy from Vitacost.com in future.

PS. Iherb.com used to have shipping rates starting from $4 not that long ago, but it looks like they have raised prices to the current $10.00. Nevertheless, their shipping rates is still much better than Vitacost.com.

Which is true, considering the recent purchase of supplement from iherb.

the only problem is the DHL guy was so rude when he was talking on the phone with me, other than that, it is very efficient, especially the shipping status.

You'll find that Iherb's discounts aren't really that great.

Some of Vitacost's products are cheaper, and when you account
for that, this cancels out Iherb's cheaper shipping.

And if you are lucky, you may be taken care of by a really good
customer service staff.

In my first order from Vitacost last year, when I mentioned (thru
Twitter) that the cost to me was prohibitive due to our currency
collapsing from around RM3 to over RM4 to the US dollar at that time,
their customer service man instantly offered me an ADDITIONAL
one-time special discount of 30 PERCENT to help offset the currency devaluation.

You won't get that kind of customer service from Iherb.

What's your total order value from Vitacost?

I speculate that it has to be quite high, say above RM300 ? to be able to achieve that point where you are saving compared to Iherb.

Higher value shipments for supplements have a higher chance of getting blocked by customs.

What I do is to limit the order value (I forgot how much, but can look through my order history if anyone is interested).

Therefore, Iherb is still a better choice personally, as the shipping costs are much lower.

Even a small US$50 order plus shipping these days will easily
exceed M$ 200.

As I have said, some of Vitacost's products are cheaper than
Iherb, so offsetting most of their shipping savings.

Secondly, Vitacost almost always gives you an extra 10 percent
discount, sometimes more, off your final order when you check out.

Thirdly, Iherb's stocks are not very complete - they typically do not
have the smaller bottles, say 60 caps or so.

Ordering 180-capsule bottles is not practical and worse, you have
to pay more for a quantity you do not want, especially if you
are trying out a product for the first time.

I do not really fancy large bottles. Smaller 60 cap-bottles are far
more practical, because once you open them, the contents start
deteriorating, and 180-caps can take a long time to finish. Thus
I do not mind paying a slightly higher price for, say, two or three
small bottles.

Fourthly, Iherb does not have Solaray and Kal, whose products and
formulations are extensive and actually quite good.

And when you order from Iherb via their cheapest $4 untrackable
USPS or DHL Global Mail shipping, you run the risk of losing your
parcel in transit, as one of the posters here told me just last week.
It seems he lost two parcels.

This supplier, whom I had ordered from for quite a number of years
before trying out Iherb and Vitacost, has almost everything and every size
you want, since they do not have a warehouse, but source them from
outside when you place the order.

You will note that most of their products are lower priced than Iherb's.

Their shipping costs, though, strictly follows USPS weight.

If you order one or two bottles, they can send it by fixed-price small
packets, like those Pos Malaysia cardboard envelopes or parcel boxes
you see here, costing about $10 for the smallest one, which I think is
up to 4 pounds.
