if u wish to have songs in your ipod, i'm afraid u have to use iTunes to do that, albeit there are quite a number of 3rd party softwares to do it, that you have to ask google a bit.
using iTunes is very easy my friend. just drag your mp3 file into the playlist and remember to sync ur ipod with iTunes..
and fyi, if ipod successfully copied songs from iTunes, your songs are stored in a folder (hidden, but u can see it by turning the option on in your windows explorer) called Ipod Control.
