Haa...
Why not take the Pentax K-5 and compare it to the Canon 5D Mark II on snapsort instead. The K-5 wins hands down. Snapsort only compares it with the specs and some DXO mark test. In real live, is a different story. But no doubt, the K-5 is still a great camera. And the K-5IIs is one of the greatest IMAGE wise APSC Pentax has made to date. But I think the Nikon D5300 still have the edge here. Besides the weather resistance and in body shake reduction from the K-50, I think everything in the D5300 beats the K-50. Maybe High ISO noise performance the K-50 should be better because of the lesser MP sensor. But I think the sensor from the D7100 is no sissy as well. Cheers........ |

By the way, I am new to this, so I hope I made the right choice of getting K-50 as an entry DSLR. Do you think so? |

I think Pentax has great photography line-up, loved the K-01 and K-30 but haven't been using any since.
Here are some photos I took with the K-30 http://www.shutterstock.com/g/goldfries/se...italian-food-k- As for the title - maybe you could just make a PENTAX Group. I'm currently part of this group https://www.facebook.com/groups/pentaxmy/ thought not a Pentax user at the moment. |

But the weatherproof and stabilizing feature is worth it I guess. For the same price tag, what is your replacement for k-30? By the way, your photos look fantastic! |

QUOTE(Pentaxian @ Nov 28 2014, 12:07 PM) Welcome welcome. No worries. The K-30 and the K-50 is a good camera. Somehow the Prime M processor tends to render JPEG files with more vibrant color than the K-5. Other than the full magnesium body and some extras buttons here and there on the K-5, the sensor and image quality is up there with those big boys which cost double the price even till now. And the Prime M processor is newer than the one in the K-5. The sensor is so good that many Pentaxian wish that it could be used in the K-3 body. I still never fail to "WOW" other camera user when showing them the photos from the back LCD with my K-30 paired with the 50mm f1.8 plastic wonder.Do you think I should change the title?
