What's the difference? The price is the same and you get the same product.

The major difference between Maxis and TM is that TM bundles IPTV while Maxis doesn't.

No, you do *not* get the same product.

Think of it this way. If you are with UniFi, if there is a *physical* issue with the fibre-optics (whether it is the BTU or the cable), UniFi will likely come out and service you straightaway. If you are with Maxis using Maxis infra, same thing.

If you are with Maxis, but using TM infra, then why should UniFi service you immediately, when they maybe have their own customers with similar or other issues? You can bet that your case will be lower priority. Not to say that you will have to wait a week, and of course if you don't have any physical issues then the matter does not arise, but it isn't the same product at all.

FWIW, I rarely have any issues with Maxis FTTH (using TM infra), and all of it so far was not physical issues but problems on Maxis end.

LOL it's the same product. Same price. Same Internet, VOIP, IPTV. Nothing is crippled.

Without statistics, one can't say whether fiber faults are resolved faster on Maxis-over-Maxis vs Maxis-over-TM. For example - What if Maxis takes significantly longer to dispatch their technicians than TM? Then, problems in Maxis-over-TM could actually be resolved at the same speed, even after escalation delay.

Fiber faults are exceptional and situational, such that it shouldn't be considered part of the "product". I feel sorry for anyone who puts significant weight in it. They are better off hedging against it with backup mobile broadband or DSL.

If you are talking solely about the *service*, and not the physical medium/infra through which the service is provided, I agree completely with you. The *only* difference is who's providing last-mile access; otherwise, the service is exactly the same.

Really... I'd like to test that. When exactly are "peak hours"?

The P2P blockage (although, strictly speaking, it's throttling) happens with TM infra as well, between 8pm - 2am. It does for me, at any rate.
