QUOTE(vuetnam @ Dec 4 2014, 04:07 PM) Sea Games are Kim Swee’s sole focus2 December 2014 @ 8:09 AM INTERNAL squabbling in the FA of Malaysia (FAM) has left national youth coach Ong Kim Swee with only the Singapore Sea Games in June while Young Tigers B trainer Razip Ismail will handle teams for the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers in March and the S-League. FAM has decided to merge Young Tigers A (Under-23) and B (Under-21) under Razip. The decision has caught many by surprise as Kim Swee was in Singapore with FAM general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin for discussions with the FA of Singapore over Tigers A’s return to the S-League. FAM made the decision as several Tigers A players were released after getting offers from M-League teams. The national body felt it did not make sense for Kim Swee to handle a team full-time next year. Kim Swee’s mission will be to scout Under-23 talents from next season’s M-League for the Sea Games. Those, short-listed for the Sea Games, will report to Kim Swee immediately after the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers while others attached with M-League teams will do so only on May 1. When pressed whether Kim Swee was happy with the decision, Hamidin said: “We made this decision as we felt it would be tough for one coach to handle all three assignments. You cannot satisfy everyone. “We had discussions with respective team managers Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah (Sea Games) and Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman (AFC Under-22 Qualifiers and S-League) before making this decision,” he said at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday. Razip’s performance as the Tigers B coach has not been impressive following poor results in several internationals including the S-League. Tigers B finished second from bottom in last season’s S-League and finished last in the recent season. Razip’s team, however, reached the semi-finals of the Newspaper Cup and the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy. “We have to give Razip a chance. He had many Under-19 players in the S-League. Kim Swee has an important assignment at the Sea Games,” said Hamidin when quizzed by reporters. sos nst |

QUOTE(vuetnam @ Dec 4 2014, 04:13 PM) hold on. meanwhile on today NST...Kim Swee staying put 4 December 2014 @ 8:13 AM NATIONAL youth coach Ong Kim Swee (pic) has dismissed speculation that he is resigning from the FA of Malaysia (FAM) after the former international was dropped from the coaching set-up for next year’s S-League. Kim Swee was supposed to be assisted by Razip Ismail in the S-League to prepare players for the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers in March and the Singapore Sea Games in June but the FA of Malaysia (FAM) changed its mind recently. Razip will now handle Young Tigers (national Under-22) in the S-League and the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers while Kim Swee will take charge of the Sea Games. There was speculation that Kim Swee was unhappy with the changes and had wanted to resign. “It is only a rumour. Anyway, where can I go if I resign? Yes, the changes were done recently but as a coach, I will adhere to instructions from FAM,” said Kim Swee yesterday. Those from Razip’s team, selected for the Sea Games, will report immediately to Kim Swee after the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers while players attached to M-League sides, will do so on May 1. “The target is to regain the gold medal in the Sea Games. I will do my best to prepare the players for the assignment,” said the 43-year-old, who had rejected offers from Sabah and Selangor to continue as a coach with FAM. Kim Swee’s only worry is whether those released to clubs, including D. Saarvindran and Gary Steven Robbat, would get enough playing time in the M-League. “It is something I need to consider before I select the training squad for the Sea Games. I will start scouting for new talents when the M-League starts in January,” he said. On what were FAM’s plans for him after the Sea Games, Kim Swee said he has not been informed yet. Kim Swee will unlikely renew his contract with FAM after it expires at the end of next year as the Malacca-born wants to start coaching senior teams. The draw of the AFC Under-22 Qualifiers will be conducted at the Asian Football Confederation headquarters in Bukit Jalil today. AFC is also expected to award FAM the hosting job for Malaysia’s group. By Ajitpal Singh sos NST This post has been edited by pcboss00: Dec 4 2014, 04:19 PM |
