PETALING JAYA: Power producer Malakoff Corp Bhd saw a significantly smaller oversubscription rate for the retail portion of its offering compared with the institutional fund interest shown for its initial public offering (IPO).

Malakoff said in a statement that the non-bumiputra retail offer of 225.537 million shares to the public was only oversubscribed by two times, while the 109.803 million bumi shares had a mere 0.46 times oversubscription rate.

In comparison, institutions have chased the Malakoff share offering, giving it an institutional oversubscription rate of 13 times. The institutional offering involved up to 1.279 billion shares.
