Yeah money is always slow at the start but towards the end, you got more than you can use. I have yet to go Skellige and i have over 10k gold. Not sure to sell or dismantle items (which also cost money).... Just try to remember to sell swords to blacksmith and armors to armorers. THey give better price for them.
For repairing weapons, use those weapon repair kits. Later on you won't really be using them unless during emergency.
ExCrIpT Your controller will vibrate also when your stamina finishes or complete recharging. Can't remember which action it was at the moment.
