Normal bicycle lights are usually blinkers. Mostly they are installed for others to notice you and not for you to shine on your path. As for most foldies, my guess is, the rides are usually on lighted tarmac roads. So, even without the lights, you can still see the road. So, if you are not riding in total darkness as in night time offroad mountain biking, any lights will do. One in front and one at the back, blinking or not.

For dark rides, I have one on standby and I use the Moon 780. It's good so far and one charge will last me 80 minutes on full but I usually use quarter power only and that will last me over 3 hours. The full power too bright and it disturbs other riders actually. So far, this is the brightest that I can find without hanging another battery pack (very meddlesome with wires dangling) and also spare batteries are easily available.

Schwalbe always performs better than Kendas, regardless of which model. It's the rubber compound. My favorite was Marathon Plus. It's 1.6 and the Marathon Racer is 1.5. Kojak is 1.3. If the conditions are dry, I just inflate to 100 psi and the ride although bumpy, easy to pedal as less contact with he tarmac and if it  rains, I lower the pressure for more contact.  Last long and nice rolling. Kojak has good grips but due to the soft compound and threadless, it wears out fast.

Seems good. A shop in Ipoh is selling kojak for Rm80 apprx each. Wears out fast mwans how fast? like a year ?
Silly question here, can we pump our bike using petrol station air pumper?

How do you feel after riding on the kojak? If you don't notice anything wrong then it should be OK la. Which shop is it?
So do you like your kojaks?
*
As expected, ride becomes a lot bumpier but speedier compare to on Kenda. Overall,ok lah tho not much staisfied.

Were you changing tires at pmj?  I think I'm gonna get duranos next. You can lower the pressure a bit if it's too bumper for you. I'm running around 90 psi now. Feels better for me. I don't need comfort haha
*
Nolah. At Taiping. You are using Kojak too? NIce. Give review comparing durano and kojak. Hows the durability of kojak? Easy puncture or not?

meletup or not i think depends on how much pressure you set, the psi. Ask here what good pressure for that tyre. Then listen for the ting ting ting la, just like pumping car tyres.

Coz i never see before ppl pumping their bicycle at petrol station. lol

QUOTE(etigge @ Jun 5 2015, 11:30 AM)
I have used both Kojaks and Duranos, the Duranos are still on my velos (both of them). When I first got the Dash, the original tires was the Kojaks. Frankly speaking, both are equally good even when it rains. The reason I changed to Duranos ( it's just me, OK  icon_rolleyes.gif  ) is because Kojaks are 1.3s and it's like not here nor there. Duranos are 1.1, slimmer, tire pressure is about the same. So, to get lesser resistance, the slimmer the better, right? So, I changed to Duranos. Just get the slimmest tires for tarmac riding, purely for speed. At that time Panaracer Minits Lites were out of stock and hard to get. Panaracer is only 1.0  rclxms.gif  and also the cross section is like a cone. When on flats , minimal surface contact and when cornering, bigger surface is in contact with the road.

In my opinion, the best tires fo a foldie is Schwalbe Marathon series. They are also puncture protected. YES, it does get punctured but needs a longer penetration. The bottom part of the tire is lined with a blue compound to make the bottom thicker. Tires like Kojak and Duranos, you need to be careful after a while of using, especially Kojaks which wears off fast. As the surface gets thinner, small grains of sand gets embedded into the compound. This is more so when riding hard as the surface gets hot and goes soft. If embedded the grain of sand sometimes gets rolled over and over until you might hit a small bump which hits the sand even deeper and finally pierce into the inner tube. This type of puncture is irritating because they deflate very slowly and sometimes you don't see what is puncturing the tube and it will happen again after replacing the tubes.

Once when I was riding my Dash in Genting Peras and was coming downhill, I didn't notice a small corner of the brake shoe was misaligned. As I braked, it was rubbing the walls of the tires and after that, there was an explosion. Luckily I was still upright and found a big hole on the tube and the tire. My wife have to continue and get the car to me later. No repairs unless you carry a spare tire.  tongue.gif

As for the Kojaks, the ones you buy now are those being offered for the last stocks. You can get them in Kimbell Jaya for even less now. The usual price was RM110 but now it is offered for RM60 but my guess is the stocks are finished already but those using Kojaks are usually 451 users, maybe there still some left. But for foldie general use, I still advise Schwalbe Marathon series, either the Plus, Supreme ( minimal treads for less resistance ) or Racer ( Racer is 1.5 with deep treads ).

In speed and ease to pedal, durano is better than kojak significantly? SO,in short durano is more durable than kojak? demm, shud have opt for the duranos. sweat.gif Saw the marathon too,but i was finding for thinner ones. And im using the bike on tar roads only so dont need marathon rite? Now i shud be more careful after hearing your story. SO for light usage and no long distance riding, usually the kojak can last for how long?
Btw,can we fit a 20x1.75 tube into a 20x1.35 tyre? The bike shop just fit the tube inside the tyre. He told me to use first,if get damaged ,baru chg the tube. Can meh like that? rclxub.gif

QUOTE(etigge @ Jun 5 2015, 04:21 PM)
I never mention significantly! I even say, it's almost the same performance. Just that the Kojaks are bigger in size and I wanted to minimize. Just like car tires, the same goes for Schwalbes, better grip means faster wear, longer lasting means harder compound at the expense of grippiness. Come on lah! we are not pro racers, we are just recreational riders. Some use Kendas or RM20 BMX tires without any incidents and they change only after like years and years after riding. I say, most of the criteria are " Shiok sendiri : only. I do ride downhill at 30 to 45 km/h at times so I feel more assured if the tires are good.
