Guys,

Interested to buy Honda City grade V.
All sifus here, so far any problem with this variant?
I got advice from Honda Workshop supervisor say Honda City quality so so only...

Actually I was deciding between E & V, but decided to choose V variant due to Steering Wheel Switch Cruise Control. I am buying this for long distance drive, from JB to KL, or JB to Kedah, so this feature will let me relax abit during highway drive.

Any suggestions?

So far i survey around, the OTR price of 89,467.20, deduct 2,000 and another 500, maybe with full tank + tinted OR touch N go (Salesperson don't want give full details until i confirm booking).

If got budget, go for Honda HRV. For long distance drive crossover is better.
*
But HRV or CRV type is fuel sucker, still need a car around the city area, specially doing sales... sweat.gif

The petrol consumption is still ok. 12~13 km/l for city drive.
*
Well, I got low budget, and also plan to own this car for roughly 5 years only.
What do u think?

My previous car, kelisa, been driving like fast n furious..
After upgrade to City, I dont feel to drive that furious anymore..

Offen I drive 100-130, i got tailgate by Myvi,Viva,Kelisa,Kancil, and those old old car..
I got a feeling that life is short, need to enjoy the drive feeling, rather than from 1 spot to 1 spot..

I'm getting old..?? LOL
Anyway, City quality is really so-so.. but still better than proton..
Might be because mine is 1st batch.. So the assembly is more careful and tight.

So far didnt encouter rattling sound yet.. power window no problem.. didn't have problem as the current batch. smile.gif
*
Thanks, so far u're the only one who answer me properly only... sweat.gif
If quality so so, with V variant RM 89k, is it worth it?
I read some pages back complaining the power window, and rattling sounds, also 40KM/h sounds?
Is it really serious? Or still manageable?

I'm using V spec. Small problem only , dashboard gap n pop out cover. i drove vios , almaera and city i still like city. Just go and test drive and feel yourself . Btw, 40kmh sound is ABS activated. It's normal
*
QUOTE(shinichi88 @ Apr 10 2015, 09:51 PM)
power window, & dashboard rattling sound can be fix.. dont worry..
40km/h sound only appear once every drive.. some mechanism activation sound.. if your radio volume loud enough, tthenn u wont notice it..

Y i choose city?
Almera: Design look boring..
Vois: lack of safety feature..
City Vspec: look nice, got plenty of safety feature comparing almera / vios.,  low fc,  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
From the feedback, V variant budget range is with Almera & Vios only?
Hows the CVT engine? Got ppl say its underpower leh... cry.gif

is B segment bro..
how do you feel underpower? City have more HP than vios n almera..
if u feel not good enough, then u look for wrong car, wrong segment dy..
Maybe try C segment 1800cc to 2000cc, civic, altis, or maybe those 1500cc below with turbo such as VW, Peugeot, or Mazda sky active.

So far my E spec have no major issues. Probably my mileage is kinda low (~1000km) so I cannot comment at the moment. However I notice my window at the rear left is kinda slow to close and open. Maybe I will bring this up to the Honda SC during my next servicing. But I guess they are going to push the blame to my tint.  sweat.gif

Actually for your budget, you can also take the new Mazda 2 into consideration if you don't mind small cabin and boot size.  hmm.gif
*
Well, I am not that kind of gila-power person lah, just heard some people complaint the CVT engine is kinda underpowered only.
Most of the comparison I saw is with Vios, Almera, Cerato, and Polo sedan.
Seems like V variant is still on the win-side. rclxms.gif

I choose City due to the 536L boot size icon_rolleyes.gif , good for carrying much more items, and also CVT seems to provide better FC.

From your experience, how does ur City FC feels like?
For both city and highway drive.

Compare CVT with conventional automatic gearbox is already give 10% discount to the HP. Cut queue need to ready for more throttle before able to catch up the speed. But still better than Almera of course. But compare with Toyota Vios, still have some improvement. Overall, for B segment vehicle, is already consider good in terms of value for money and features.
*
QUOTE(Jeffreynsx @ Apr 11 2015, 06:59 AM)
Depends on how you drive this vehicle. Always stuck in traffic jam in normal City drive FC sure will drop significantly. If smoother drive will easily get 10~11km/l in City while 15~17km/l at Highway.
*
QUOTE(lil_flank @ Apr 11 2015, 10:50 AM)
I see.. in that case you made the right choice coz Honda city has the biggest cabin and boot size for Japanese car under B segment. I also need a big boot size coz i always need  to accompany my mother in law to buy alot of groceries from Tesco.
Yup, agree  nod.gif
The FC will drop significantly if driving in City/town with alot of traffic lights and speed bumps coz u always shifting to low gear. For me is around 9km/l ~10km/l in my town if i drive very lightfooted with eco mode. But in highway, the FC is really good (15~17km/l) thumbup.gif
Just to add on, need to off the eco mode if require more throttle to overtake cars or cut queue  laugh.gif
Thanks for the advice. Will try it out once i get my hands on my car.
*
Thanks for all the feedbacks ! rclxms.gif
Just went to another showroom for my FIRST test drive of the V variant.
I would say...As a driver, the feel was OK, but cornering seems so so only.
I asked the salesperson about Anti Roll Bar, he dunno about it.
And my mom sit at the rear passenger seat, she said the engine noise very loud, and noisy...
Do u guys experience the same too?

Power wise, econ mode really feel the underpower lah.

Any of u guys install Anti Roll bar into your city?

Try to test drive Honda Civic 1.8 or 2.0 variant and compare yourself. I would say Honda Civic more fun to drive with all the features you required.
*
Haha, low budget, maybe after 5 years i will change to a better car tongue.gif

However, did any of ur passenger complain having loud engine noise while sitting at the rear passenger seat?
Or u guys install noise insulation to isolate better from the engine noise?

The SA quote me rebate RM 1000 (500 from Honda, 500 from his personally)
What do u guys think?
Got any SA recommended at JB area?
Planning to buy around May-June this year...

Well, depend on what car ur mum compare to.. Myvi? BMW?
Can't give u a proper answer. Different ppl got different experience level threshold.
Wonder if anyone did a proper noise test on all Bsegment. Will be very interesting.

All I can say is cheap car come with cheap stuff.
City roof is naked. No sound insulation. tyre noise due to tyre profile/type "goodyear" and no proper tyre sound insulation.

The time I bought my car, is because I need a car for work and future small family car. Not I buy to satisfy parent. Human will never satisfy at a point. Once u luxurious car, u nvr want to look at cheaper car if have options unless serious financial encounter.
*
Well, my mom comparing with her current Hyundai i10 lah.
But me as the driver, i don't see much different with Myvi & i10...

QUOTE(lil_flank @ Apr 12 2015, 12:05 PM)
I think the NVH for this car is ok except when it is raining due to the roof has no noise insulation.
I haven't sat at the rear seats yet so couldn't comment much.
Probably becoz my previous car was a old proton saga and I was use to the noise.
But there was a few times i close the aircon and radio of my honda city but i forgot to off my engine.
When i try to lock the car, the car will beep and that is when i remember that i forgot to off my engine, haha..
Car engine is quiet, I mean for me la..
*
Have u guys added soundproof on the car doors?
I heard some people do that to improve the noise isolation.
Then the noise outside will be isolated, making the car cabin much more quiet?

OK, after reading many many many reviews and opinions from you guys, I have decided to go for V variant.

Any SA recommended for JB area?
Hoping to confirm the purchase by end of May.

By the way, did u guys install the rear camera from Honda or from 3rd party?
I heard the Honda SA said if we install from 3rd party, the warranty will be void, right?

Performance wise can go for PS3 as George.low has stated.

For durability and comfort (quiet) ride can consider XM2.

Last time I check price also not much different between these 2.

15" ~ 250, 16" ~ 350.
*
+1 for XM2, i saw the reviews are very nice.
I even plan to change to xm2 once i got my car.
New tyres trade in can get a nicer price.

been hearing that since cny, but people still can get blue color, if that showroom don't have blue color, might wanna consider ask around first
*
I asked 3 different showrooms, 1 big one saying i can get blue by end of this month. One say need wait 2 months, the latest one say might out of stock...

Kinda doubt the last salesman as he keep asking me to book and only can let me know the stock result after booking...

QUOTE(ikengkai @ May 3 2015, 04:26 PM)
Sorry that noob here, more question.

Checked the maintenance schedule for it.

1. Iridium Spark Plug RM359.28
Every 100,000 KM need to change. Cost of the spark plug look like 5-8x of normal spark-plug. We save few cents of fuel cost per KM, but need pay high part cost for this... Do we really saving in term of total cost of ownership compare Vios?  (no intention for any brand preference, and take out handling, bla bla stuff... Not mean to argue, just like to hear experience owner's sharing. I also know it more cost saving go for P brand, but sorry... really give them too many chance)

2. Fuel Strainer  RM201.28
Assume this similar to fuel filter thing.. but why this cost so high? I thought it should be around RM40-70 part?
*
Errr....personally i am using Denso iridium spark plugs in my Myvi 1.3A.
FC wise, i see no major improvement
Pick-up wise, maybe slight improvement

Good thing i like about it is that its worry-free for at least 100k mileage, and maybe will last longer than that lar...
Coz i always travel long distance from south to north, 750km in 10 hours drive, so i dont wanna worry halfway highway my spark spoiled coz i forgot to change it.

(Got one bad experience in my kancil, 1 spark plug spoiled and i ALMOST kena conned by "technician" as he said need to tow my car due to piston problem, then police petrol asked my drive slowly to nearest exit. The shop change spark plugs and air filter and changed as normal only, phewwww) - due to that time baru got license, car noob and know nothing about car but to drive it only... sweat.gif

So eventually, it is up to ur needs lah...
If u feel worth it, then can install then let us know the differences in City ?
Research shows iridium plugs dont really improve much of FC and performance unless u driving a racing car whistling.gif

Last week i walked in, one malay guy SA insisted to give me 500+500+half tank only, very pissed off.

My friend told me some SA allow us to purchase our own insurance, is that true ?

Coz i am an insurance agent, dont want let them earn the commision for which i can discount for myself tongue.gif
