Dear sifu, currently I'm using Temasek CM12.1 ROM. I want to go back to stock rom using Odin. Tired of non-stable rom.

Question:
- Will I get that infamous efs corrupt/imei null when I flash back stock rom? I don't even remember either my efs is v1 or v2.
- Other than official stock rom, is there any stock based rom (stable) that sifu recommended?

Thank you so much!  notworthy.gif

Just flashback to latest S3/stock rom you are good to go without worrying about the efs and if you do you can backup using SamsungTools in xda.
You can try also back to n00t v9 rom or check my previous post back for direct link.

Do I have to root the phone before installing a custom rom? how do i tell which version of Odin should I download?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/...3010596/page636

Is this stable for a beginner to try out?

1. Yes you have to root the stock S3 rom with latest Odin also can.

Once you successfully rooted and install the TWRP - PLEASEEEEE make a nandroid backup via TWRP and EFS backup using Samsung Tools(search in xda)

Sifus, I am on a very tight budget and needs LTE for my usage. Would it be a good choice to get an i9305 now? I do not pay games much but uses a lot of emails and google related apps (Drive, Maps, Google+) since it is now less than RM 600 for a brand new unit and comes with 2GB RAM. Still a sucker for AMOLED screen.... cry.gif

Up to you to decide - but you may consider Lenovo K3 Note - plenty of custom rom available - you may check the thread in LYN

Try reload back your backup Nandroid if still cant try flashing the stock rom via Odin if still cant that means either your board is fried or your emmc is gone.

Bought a S6 instead.
I am thinking of sending my S3 to samsung centre to check, hmm, do you think it is worth of reviving? I really love this phone so much. Feeling so sad for it.

If the sentimental value is involve than no harm sending it to Samsung.

Any shop or samsung service centre? How much do they charge usually?

No need to send to the CS - check your PM.
If the link given still unable to get your IMEI - just download the latest S3 stock rom and flash it via Odin.
