today just gave it another chance, think might be power button failure but nope. Tried to hold my power button to simulate button stuck and it did not even have a chance to reach slimkat boot animation. Mine will restart again when a vibrate that cue me that OS is done loading during slimkat boot animation. So i confirm mine not power button failure lol

still able to working la. custom rom for s3 is smoother than huawei most expensive phone stock rom. i testing at KLCC the promoter said where got lag. i show him my s3 also 4.4.4 much smoother but 5.0 not smooth. lollipop also no stable & also our processor is sux unlike iphone

ya.. all of them.. i even format the system partition. and now, not even OS boot animation. just samsung i9300. 
look like the system partition is corrupted. Once format, could not even write to that partition dy.

Yes able to go to recovery mode and download mode. I've even tried to flash custom recovery and rom but no luck. I also tried flashing stock rom with PIT file still no luck.

Is it permanently dead ?

The rest I've not tried it. Will download the modem and try again. It was working flawlessly when suddenly it goes into icu.

Could be that the rom chip already dead and needs a mobo replacement ?

I downloaded the stock rom from sammobile but still unsuccessful and I'm aware that the stock rom includes all components except for PIT file. I was reading on the other forums and they said to flash stock together with PIT but that also doesn't work.

It would be great if you have any idea or solution to my problem.

Just flashed the Temasek Unofficial build v6.1 CM12 Android Lollipop... works great, smooth and all function works.

so many new phones out there on market. im glad there are still s3 users.
but if your s3 would fail u. what is ur next phone? any phone with good money value?
