Hi guys. Long time WP7 user on the Lumia 800, and I love my phone to bits. So sad it died yesterday (totally gone cold, either the battery cut itself off to prevent failure or the charging/USB assembly is gone)

Anyway, it's time to change. What would you guys recommend? I'm asking in this particular subforum because I think you would understand my love for the ecosystem, but perhaps objectively we can come to a reasonable conclusion. The options I'm looking at are:

Lumia 830 (about RM1200) - Because it is new, has wireless charging, better CPU(?)

Lumia 925 (about RM900) - Because it was a flagship, really cheap now, not much different from the 830 and smaller (which I like)

Two Lumia's are in consideration because I am very comfortable with the WP ecosystem, and I'm hoping for a seamless transition and migration over. I am a heavy OneNote user as it syncs with my Surface Pro which is my work machine. Finally, WP8 will get Windows 10.

Mi3 (about RM800) - Because it is so bloody cheap with almost top tier specs

OnePlus One (about RM1200) - Because it is a top tier phone with mid tier pricing.

For these androids, since my phone is dead, how can I get my contacts across? Most of my stuff are synced to windows live. Can it be synced back to an android phone? No idea at all about this ecosystem.

What do you guys think? Buy a mid tier windows phone and stay with the ecosystem, or buy a top tier android phone for the same price. This is honestly a really hard decision for me. Apps are not a big deal to me, so I've never found the playstore very compelling.

Android currently the best i use is using google contacts. If you can import your contacts into google you can sync it seamless into the phone.

for me once you start android and the flexibility WP becomes boring. From the last time i used until now its still using the same old stype

Well since app is not your thing so you might stay with WP

But for me, if possible, I will change OS very time I change a phone, keep things fresh.

And I was on WP, after using Android, I am never looking back unless the app situation gets better (which I doubt it will). WP OS is awesome, but without those latest apps, I feel that it will never reach its potential

Since you use OneNote and such, stay with WP. Get 830. It has removable back and battery unlike 800. So if the battery dies, no problem, just change to a new battery.

wanna sync contact to android is easy. just sync your windows live account in android then can port automatically all the contacts to android... this is already year 2014, as long as u back up your contacts in email account then doesnt matter u switch from android to windows or windows to android or blackberry to ios to whatever..

Mi3 specs on paper is good, but MIUI is over-hyped, it sucks big time, for me android better stick to stock android or near stock android. and mi3 experience will never match windows phone smoothness and responsiveness..even lumia 925 will beat mi3 easily in terms of smoothness.

if not because there is no clash of clans games in windows phone, i would gladly switch to windows phone.

I would go for 925 if you want to stay with WP.

If you going for Android, consider Nexus 5. It has the latest Android L. I would stay away from Mi3 due to MIUI
