Another ATH-ES5 user here. biggrin.gif
Really hard to get a AT product in Malaysia. I get mine from bluetin.com. But I saw in PJ HiFi shop selling some AT product before, but the price ... sweat.gif

I love my ES5 too, very easy to drive and sound great without head amp. I do feel the midrange and bass improve a little bit with a head amp.

Can the cushions on the ear cups for ATH-A900 headphones be replaced ? The cushions are getting flaky. Any ideas ?

I'm going to get a ear cups replacement for my A900 from bluetin soon via COD in SG.
Around $30 Sgd (RM73).
Anyone interested to get one can let me know, I can help bring back to KL next month and save you some $ on postage. laugh.gif

In Malaysia only little HIFI shops carrying some AT product in very limited stocks and models available, most are overpriced too.....
Saw some AT cans at KL AV fair last weekend, but the price is way to over.... compare you buy on-line or at retail in Singapore.
If you don't want to went to Singapore and don't have any friends in Singapore to help you get one. Bluetin.com is alway the best option for AT fans in Malaysia.

ATH-A900 user here.

Rather big and makes your ears a little sweaty in a hot room, but the sound is sweeeeeet. Best damn cans I ever bought. thumbup.gif

The A900 Earpads don't really last, if you with sweat often. You Can consider upgrade to A1000 leather Earpads.
Feel less sweaty and more comfort to me after upgrade. and improve the noise isolation and a bit on the bass. smile.gif

not sure about AKG K99, but ATH-AD500 is open back type.
why not consider get ATH-A500 which is closed back with better noise isolation and better bass for movie and games.

If plying fps game, AD is better for its wide soundstage.
*
True,
actually the soundtage of A series seem not bad at all.
I feel my ATH-A900 pretty wide and accurate while play games. tongue.gif

Plus, if you have any noisy enviroment such as me(my room near the main road), the closed back will good for isolating the noise.

Guys, need some comments on these headphones
Audio Technica ATH-SJ3
Audio Technica ATH-SJ5
Audio Technica M-35
Audio Technica M-50
*
You comparing different headphone of different league and big price different too. sweat.gif
If got the budget , of cause go for Audio Technica M-50,
try once in the shop, I feel the bass is strong and tight, clarity is good, very comfort and give very good noise isolation and the build quality is pretty solid too. It even can fold into pretty small size for portable purpose.

QUOTE(w00tz @ Jul 4 2009, 11:30 AM)
hey guys.. need some advice here... i was looking through some AT products and i find the model ATH-ES5 looks damn cool and it has good reviews on it (websites and lowyat forum)...

basically, i'm a gamer here which i need a decent treble kinda headphones to hear properly while i'm a music lover too.. so i was thinking getting a well balanced headphones to serve this 2 purposes... what amazed me in this model is the design and the price which is within my budget

so, anyone that own a pair of ATH-ES5 can give some opinions regarding this headphones? is the headphones good for both treble and bass?! does it work well on high volume range?!anwz i prefer bassy type of headphones because i listen to lots of clubbing musics... i dislike headphones that blew up cracking sound when comes to high volume... thx for advice in advance =)
*
I own ES5 more than 2 years. smile.gif
treble is crisp and clear, but the mid range a bit lacking to me.
To me the bass is strong and punchy , very good for Trance,Techno kinda music.
The noise isolation wasn't good.
Main problem to me is the not really comfortable for long hours listening, because the way the cans CLIP on the head and ears. Many people can't get used to the way of this headphone put on their head, For example, my brother try ES5 once, and he said here never want to use it again. sweat.gif
That why I Only use on long travel journey trip on bus or train.

I strongly suggest you try to find a ES5 to try on your head. see whether it fit or comfortable on your head.
