QUOTE(andyjyneo @ Jan 6 2007, 03:36 AM) well, en_feruz, your quote makes sense but people like me have no choice but to go mobile on desktop PCs because i've a fussy landlord who stays together with me no internet, no over-use electricity right now, i'm using digi edge as my primary connection darn! There is a PCMCIA/PC Card to PCI converter but I am not sure if it will work with the data cards or not. They plug straight into a PCI slot on the PC. If this works, then you have to relocate your CPU unit to a higher location to get a better signal I guess.

QUOTE(boonboon @ Aug 16 2007, 11:23 AM) Asking that day, RM99 for unlimited usage package, RM499 for the datacard. Is the deal worth it? i means Internet 2Go package. Really "unlimited"? Not subject to the 3Gb fair usage clause? How long is the contract period - 10 years? And the RM 99 offer expires on 14 September 2007.

Out of curiosity, what's the minimum contract period for their 3G/HSDPA service now? I'm talking about the "handphone" 3G package, not their home wireless broadband packages. Thinking of signing up.
Thanks.

QUOTE(Susuwatari @ Aug 28 2007, 11:28 AM) samueler, no contract, unless maxis center lie to me. Many thanks for the reply. Last I checked (and I checked many times!), the minimum contract period varies between 12 to 24 months. This was one of the main reasons why I decided not to sign up with them. It's OK to have minimum contract period if they subsidise the cost of hardware, for example, a 3G/HSDPA datacard, but if not, then it's unfair to the customer to insist on one - what if the service sucked?

QUOTE(Susuwatari @ Aug 28 2007, 02:06 PM) Maxis wbb should have 2 years contract. Anyway, I asked several times in different maxis center, hopefully I get the right thing, hehehe. Anyway, I activated my plan online through maxis portal. Ah, you already have a voice line. I think that if you go for the data only package at RM99 (current offer, they call it Internet2GO I think, but not sure if it can be a standalone data only plan) then maybe there's a minimum contract period, although I don't understand the need for one As it is, I think Maxis gives better value for money. They have the RM99 unlimited plan, with HSDPA speed, compared to RM120 for Celcom. That's why I'm thinking of switching, but I don't need the voice line, just data. Very confused as to what their policy is regarding contract period...

QUOTE(Susuwatari @ Aug 29 2007, 11:20 PM) specex, celcom broadband is not any better, if not worse. offtopic// True true, but I think you don't have to worry too much about suddenly owing them money in the region of hundreds or even worse, thousands of ringgit when you try to cancel some "value-added" service! At least I think so, since none of the Celcom Broadband packages comes with any minimum contract period, unless I'm mistakenly informed. The only billing problem I've heard of is using the daily unlimited package on prepaid XPax. Apparently some users have experienced a nice situation where although the daily unlimited package is only RM8/24hours, the Celcom billing system continuously deducts credit when the user is online and doing something until all the credit is exhausted; then the system cuts you off before the 24 hour period is up! So if you want to try the daily unlimited package, just try it with minimum credit left on your prepaid account! /offtopic// This post has been edited by samueler: Aug 30 2007, 01:07 AM

Sounds like you're spending more time fiddling around with the modem rather than getting any work done! I feel for you bro. Have you called their customer service to vent your frustration?
I think if this continues for you, maybe it's time to cancel within the cooling off period and get an alternative?
